Adjusting the Si/Al ratio of high silica zeolites for efficient ethane and ethylene separation

Three samples with different silica-alumina ratios (40, 500 and 1500) were synthesized to reveal the effect of high silica-alumina ratios on the selectivity of C2H6/C2H4. The results show that C2H6/C2H4 selectivity increase as the silica-alumina ratios increases. Both experimental and simulation studies showed that pure silica zeolite (SiO2/Al2O3 = 1500) exhibited excellent separation performance for C2H6/C2H4. It remains unaffected even in the presence of H2O, making it a highly promising adsorbent for selective ethane adsorption.
