摘要
Background: Critical care is an especially demanding field, due to the high volume of patients, the limited resources, the workload, and the potential for patient harm. These challenges suggest the need for a rigorous training method, such as in situ simulation (ISS). Method: The purpose of this study was to describe ISS activities in critical care units in Quebec, along with the factors facilitating or limiting their implementation. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used. The target population was unit managers nurses or nurse educators working in critical care units in Quebec. Results: A total of 28 respondents participated in the study. Several factors were identified as contribut-ing to the implementation, such as perceived benefits, team readiness and availability, and influence of the current context or of the organization. Conclusion: A large majority of respondents reported having regular ISS activities. However, they are not always consistent with best practices.Cite this article: Blais, S., Marceau, M., Lavoie, S. & Ledoux, I. (2023, Month).
