Design of UWB Electrically Small Antenna Based on Active Matching Network

A novel ultra-wideband electrically small antenna based on an active matching network is presented in this paper. The proposed structure mainly consists of a folded butterfly dipole antenna based on distributed resistive loading and a non-foster circuit. The characteristics of the antenna structure and the interrelationship between high Q and bandwidth efficiency limit the application of passive matching techniques in electrically small antennas, and in this paper, Non-Foster circuits and distributed resistors are applied to the matching design of electrically small antennas to theoretically overcome the above challenges. The active matching network enables the matching of the input impedance of the small antenna up to 50 Ω with an impedance bandwidth (IBW) of 30 octave (0.05~1.5 GHz) at| S11|<-9.5 dB, which is suitable for high-speed data transmission, indoor localization, radar imaging, and other applications that require broadband performance. In addition, the design of this active matching network provides greater design flexibility, allowing the performance of the antenna to be tuned and optimized for specific applications.
