A Metalens Collimation System for Micro-LED-Based AR Near-Eye Display

摘要
We designed a metalens array for collimating light emitted by micro-LED display in Augmented Reality (AR) Near-eye display system. The metalens array realizes transmission efficiency of up to 94.02% and a small focusing spot size of 47.4 μm, with a radius and a long focal length of 0.945 mm and 1 mm, respectively. Compared with traditional collimation system, such a metalens can dramatically reduce the total size of the system. Based on theory and numerical simulations, we proved that the system is compact while maintaining exceptional image quality.
