摘要
The present study aims to assess the feasibility of establishing a large-scale substantial offshore wind farm, employing fixed wind turbine technology with a rated capacity of 500 MW in the western region of Algeria, particularly within Mostaganem which is an exclusive coastal economic zone. Utilizing 33 Vestas V235 wind turbines, each boasting a 15 MW capacity, the focus is on simultaneous electricity and hydrogen generation by harnessing available offshore wind resources. The methodology involves evaluating onshore wind potential and utilizing the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program to forecast offshore wind potential at sea level where in-situ measurements are unavailable. The findings indicate that the simulated wind farm can generate 1361.63 GW $h$ /yr of energy at a rate of 0.89 $/kWh, producing 28571 tons of hydrogen at 2.12 $/kg. Notably, the adept utilization of wind energy significantly reduces atmospheric CO2 emissions by 595450 tons.
