摘要
The use of wireless devices and wireless technology has increased extraordinarily during recent times. Along with the usage, the demands to send more data in less time are on the rise. Millimeter wave (mmWave) technology is a possible solution to such demands. This paper discusses millimeter wave (mmWave) technology and antennas that have been recently designed and developed for 60 GHz wireless communications. Also, a novel patch antenna with capacitive feeding is proposed. The antenna is dual polarized. This characteristic is acheived by using two orthogonal feeds; for linear and circular polarizations. This antenna works well from 57–63 GHz thus covering the 6 GHz ISM band. The reflection coefficient values are well below -10dB for the whole 6 GHz band. The mutual coupling values are below -25dB. The total efficiency is about 86%. For comparison, a dual-polarized antenna with inset feeding is also designed and simulated. The simulations are done in CST Microwave Studio.
