Study on the Model and Control Technology Requirements of Condenser with Flywheel Energy Storage for Transient Energy Balance

With the development of energy strategy, the proportion of renewable energy has significantly increased, and the trend of power system electrification is becoming increasingly evident, which has brought about issues such as weakened voltage and frequency support in the power system. In order to solve the problem of frequency and voltage exceeding standards caused by active and reactive power oscillations during strong transient processes such as faults and load changes, it is necessary to introduce new energy storage and reactive power regulation equipment. However, retaining reserve capacity will undoubtedly reduce the hours of effective utilization of renewable energy, thereby reducing its economic benefits. Increasing energy storage of different scales according to actual needs can effectively balance the utilization of renewable energy and electricity production, achieve frequency support for peak shaving or transient processes, and comply with the future technological development direction of renewable energy grids. Among them, mechanical energy storage devices represented by flywheels have the advantage of long service life and are suitable for situations that require frequent adjustment. Energy storage and phase regulation are the most common technical means for renewable energy stations to respond to grid stability. However, the current common technical conditions in power grids are the separation of energy storage and phase regulation equipment, a single function, and a lack of low-cost, functionally integrated integrated equipment, as well as corresponding phase regulation and power control strategies. The condenser with flywheel energy storage integrates mechanical energy storage and phase regulation functions, and has attracted widespread attention from academia and industry. It is one of the important technological development directions to solve the voltage and frequency stability problem in the transient process of renewable energy power systems.
