Sequential Synthesis of Heterometallic Complex Based on the C-Shaped Molybdovanadate: Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Magnetic Properties

Abstract
A new molybdovanadate-based heterometallic complex, (NH 4 ) 17.5 [Co 0.5 Na 0.5 (H 2 O) 3 ] 2 [Co(H 2 O) 4 ] 2 [(Cu 6 (H 2 O) 2 (OH) 2 V 9 Mo 23 O 108 )]·23.5H 2 O (1), was synthesized through the sequential-synthetic method and fully characterized. Structural analysis reveals that compound 1 exhibits a two-dimensional (2D) framework constructed from the C-shaped {V 9 Mo 23 Cu 6 } anions connected by [Co(H 2 O) 4 ] 2+ and [Co 0.5 Na 0.5 (H 2 O) 3 ] 1.5+ units. Compound 1 has a columnar structure with a smooth surface, sharp fringes, and an average size of 40 nm. Photophysical studies show that compound 1 has a band gap of ca. 2.13 eV. Magnetic studies reveal the presence of strong antiferromagnetic interactions in compound 1 .
