An Area-Efficient Column Driver with Fully Nonlinear Gamma Scale for Mobile AMOLEDs

摘要
This paper presents a fully nonlinear column driver for high-resolution, uniform, and cost-effective display driver IC. Rather than using a conventional high voltage DAC (HVDAC) that suffers from large silicon area, the proposed column driver adopts a low voltage DAC (LVDAC). The utilization of LVDAC significantly reduces circuit area, achieving 95% reduction compared to HVDACs. Moreover, the proposed approach offers a solution to compensate for the fully nonlinear characteristics of the panel. This column driver was fabricated in 65-nm CMOS process and achieved a silicon size of 137.5x16 mu m(2).
