Efficiency Optimization Control of PMSM in Electric Vehicle-A Comparative Study

Focused on the efficiency optimization control of PMSM in EV, the mathematical model and loss characteristics of PMSM driving system are analyzed firstly. Second, the principle of the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) and loss minimization control (LMC) methods is alalyzed in detail, from aspects of copper loss and iron loss. Then, comparative experiments among id=0, MTPA and LMC methods were performed under four different operating conditions, and the experimental results were analyzed from aspects of copper loss, iron loss, total loss and efficiency in detail. Finally, the difficulties and development of efficiency optimization control of PMSM are prospected.
