Longitudinal changes in body composition and diet following acute spinal cord injury

•Overall body composition in this cohort of SCI patients did not change significantly following injury and during rehabilitation.•Subgroup analysis revealed body composition changes differed by the level and severity of neurological injury.•Changes in energy and protein intake post injury were not associated with changes in body composition.
