Recognition of Troponin I Antibody Interference to Prevent Withholding of Clozapine Therapy

Background: Cardiac troponin, a biomarker of acute myocardial injury, can be used to inform clinical decisions regarding clozapine therapy. Elevated troponin may be a contraindication for initiation of clozapine, however analytical interferences can confound decision making in this context by causing elevated troponin in the absence of myocardial injury.
