Load Distribution on “V” and Echelon Formation Flight of Flapping-Wings
AIAA SCITECH 2024 Forum(2024)
摘要
This study investigates the aerodynamic benefits of formation flight in flapping-wing drones, with a specific focus on "V" and echelon configurations. While initial efforts were made to design a custom flapping mechanism, this approach was supplanted by the use of commercial flapping-wing drones due to practical challenges. The research explores the impact of formation flight on energy efficiency and stability, leveraging both numerical simulations and experimental studies. By analyzing the performance of drones in different formation patterns, the study aims to enhance the understanding of flapping-wing aerodynamics and to inform the design of more efficient autonomous flight systems. Insights from this research have broad implications for drone technology, particularly in applications requiring extended flight duration and operational stability, such as environmental monitoring and search and rescue missions.
