Empty nose syndrome

Empty nose syndrome has been recently described. It represents a disease consisting of a number of symptoms following radical inferior turbinectomy that include nasal inspiratory disorders, sometimes loss of smell and changes in mood and behaviour. Naso-endoscopy is essential for diagnosis. Treatment generally involves nasal douche, topical steroids or antibiotics and psychological care.
