Effects of Al or Ga Substitution on the Optical Properties of Bi-Substituted Rare Earth Iron Garnets for Magnetic Hologram Memory

摘要

To improve the recording material of magnetic hologram, the effects of Al or Ga substitution on the optical properties of Bi-substituted yttrium iron garnets. Faraday rotation angle and extinction coefficient tended to decrease as increasing the amount of substitution. The figure of merit of the (Bi,Al):YIG tends to increase as increasing the amount of substitution, while that of the (Bi,Ga):YIG showed a peak lower than that of the (Bi,Al):YIG.
