Reducing the Order of Interval Systems Through Hurwitz Polynomial and Factor Division

Recent research has explored the representation of practical systems as interval systems, where parameters exhibit uncertainty within defined bounds. This paper presents an innovative model order reduction (MOR) approach to effectively diminish the complexity of interval systems. The presented approach involves leveraging Hurwitz polynomials to formulate the characteristic equation of the diminished model, while the numerator is determined by employing the factor division method. The presented methodology effectively achieves MOR, shown using an illustrative example. Additionally, the presented study presents a comparison of various error metrics between the actual higher-order model and the simplified model, confirming the efficacy of the suggested approach.
