Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are crucial for modern electronic industry products. However, corrosion on PCBs easily occurs when they are placed in the air with moisture, dust, etc., which is not conducive to the normal operation of the electronic equipment, shortening its service life. Herein, we develop a hydrophobic UV curable coating with excellent adhesion, corrosion resistance, and stain resistance. A perfluorinated chain extender (TEMAc-8-(OH)2) is prepared by a click chemical reaction, which endows the UV coating with excellent hydrophobicity and stain resistance by reducing the surface energy of the coating. Photosensitive bio-based tannic acid is obtained by using glycidyl methacrylate to modify tannic acid, making a strong interface interaction between the coating and substrate in order to achieve excellent adhesion. In comparative evaluation, the corrosion resistance and anti-fouling performances of UV curable coating are significantly improved by introducing TEMAc-8-(OH)2 and photosensitive bio-based tannic acid. The composite coatings with 20 wt% and 24 wt% perfluorinated chain extenders exhibited high impedance value (|Z|0.01Hz > 108 Ω•cm2) after 21 days of immersion in a 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, exhibiting a long-term anti-corrosion performance for PCBs protection. This work provides a new idea to develop PCBs protective coating, which not only has both dust resistance and excellent adhesion, but also has long-term corrosion resistance in harsh environments.
