Achieving multi-wavelength excitation and multi-color tunable emission in self-reducing phosphor of Ba2MgSi2O7: Eu2+/Eu3+

Phosphors with multi-wavelength response and multi-color luminescence properties play an important role in application of multi-mode optical anti-counterfeiting. In this paper, Ba2MgSi2O7: Eu2+/Eu3+ phosphor with self-reducing effect was synthesized by high-temperature solid-state method in air atmosphere. And by co-doping monovalent ions K+/Na+/Li+, the self-reduction of Eu3+ can be partially inhibited and the controllable regulation of the Eu2+/Eu3+ concentration ratio in the matrix crystal is achieved. Due to the large overlap of Eu2+ and Eu3+ excitation spectra, by selectively exciting Eu2+ or Eu3+, or simultaneously exciting Eu2+ and Eu3+, the luminescence color of Ba2MgSi2O7: Eu2+/Eu3+ phosphor can be tuned from red to yellow and then to green. Based on the multi-wavelength response and multi-color luminescence characteristics of Ba2MgSi2O7: Eu2+/Eu3+, its applications in optical anti-counterfeiting were designed and evaluated. In addition, due to the characteristics of multi-wavelength emission, the phosphor has a good application prospect in optical temperature measurement.
