摘要
Background: Snapping triceps syndrome is a rare phenomenon that occurs mostly in young male athletes. Humeral deformities, hypertrophy of the distal triceps muscle and cubitus varus have been suggested as possible causes. Until now few treatment options have been reported in the literature. Case presentation: A 35-year-old healthy male recreational bodybuilder with bilateral snapping triceps syndrome who had experienced pain and snapping sensations in both elbow joints for 10 years was admitted to our department after all attempts of conservative treatment had failed. We performed surgery on both elbows consisting of medial triceps head centralization and anterior subcutaneous transposition of the ulnar nerve. After recovery, the patient was able to return to his activities of daily life and sport activities without any pain or limitations. Conclusion: The surgical technique described shows promising clinical results for patients suffering from snapping triceps syndrome.
