Evaluation of the Effect of Truncation Error on Near-Field Measurement Accuracy

Near-field measurement system is widely used in antenna measurement. It is necessary to study the effect of truncation error on measurement accuracy in order to explore the balance between measurement accuracy and measurement efficiency of near-field scanning size. In this paper, the effects of different truncation conditions on antenna sidelobe are simulated and measured by constructing a horn antenna model. The experimental results show that the measurement error in side lobe level could be accurately depicted by either simulation or measurement which provides an objective methodology for the selection of scanning size in antenna testing engineering.
