High-Efficiency Rectenna Based on Omnidirectional Circularly Polarized Hybrid-Helix

In this work, a rectenna operating at 2.4 GHz is proposed to realize high-efficiency RF energy harvest. The omnidirectional circularly polarized antenna, utilizing a pair of hybrid-helix structures, is specifically designed to effectively capture wireless power from various incident directions and polarizations. The rectifier incorporates a $\lambda/4$ microstrip-based harmonic suppression network, which is connected to the antenna by a balun. A co-simulation combined with hybrid-helix antenna and rectifier is conducted to validate the RF-to-DC efficiency, showing that the proposed rectenna achieves a RF-to-DC efficiency of 84% with the input power of 9 dBm.
