摘要
A backward wave oscillator (BWO) is a type of terahertz (THz) radiation sources, which can produce the signal of high power and high frequency. BWO has the characteristics of high power, tunable frequency, and small size, which is widely used in communication, radar, imaging, and other fields. However, in the 1-THz frequency band, BWO is limited by factors, such as high skin depth and surface roughness; the BWO has problems, such as low output power, low efficiency, and long power stability time. In this article, we propose using a graphene-coated structure to solve the above problems. A graphene-coated is added to the traditional staggered double-grating slow wave structure (SWS), the output power reached 3.6 W, which is more than twice that of traditional structures, and the starting oscillation time is also shortened. This method provides a new idea for the development of THz radiation sources.
