摘要
The Internet-of-Things (IoT) landscape involves number of IoT devices for data collection, monitoring and automation. Though they offer numerous benefits but they operate with constrained energy resources owing to limited battery lifes-pan. Thus, energy conservation is very crucial in IoT networks which leads to reduced operational costs with less frequent battery replacements offering environmental sustainability. In this paper, the energy usage of the IoT network is controlled using active IRS technology. The network design involves the use of active IRSs which offer controlled reflection and optimise signal strength thus improving the energy efficiency. A power consumption model is proposed considering circuit components power, transmit power, active IRS output power and amplification power. It is observed that the system energy efficiency improves by 13.04% as the maximum amplification power $P_{F}$ is increased from 0 dBm to 10 dBm. In the end, the performance comparison with the passive IRS system is carried out.
