摘要
This paper is based on the comparison of simulated and measured outputs of a Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM)-employed single-phase pure sinusoidal Voltage-Source Inverter (VSI) working at a fixed frequency as well as mentioning MOSFET gating techniques. In addition, nonideal behaviors of electrical components and strategies to tackle these characteristics are discussed. Due to the recent massive advancement of renewable energy-based power generation technologies, inverters are a burning topic for modern-day research. Although single and multiple PWM based inverters are designed for low-cost applications, SPWM is more promising as Distortion Factor (DF) and Lowest Order Harmonic (LOH) are significantly reduced. In this evolution, both the bipolar and unipolar SPWM patterns are numerically and practically executed. The unipolar scheme has the advantage of reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and thus the inverter output takes more sinusoidal waveshape. Compared to the unipolar technique, the bipolar modulation offers higher efficiency due to the better utilization of DC bus voltage even though it is costlier to implement. Instead of building a traditional 12V DC to 240V AC inverter, a 24V DC-240 V(rms) AC circuit is implemented, because it requires fewer transformer windings. In case of software simulation, the output of the inverter is a pure sinusoidal, whereas this is not the case after hardware implementation of the same design, although there is a high level of agreement between the simulated and measured results.
