Efficient Rate Maximization in RIS-assisted MIMO Systems

In the proposed work presented to improve the strength of wireless networks, to ensure efficient utilization of the bandwidth. Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) provides an innovative way to do that by allowing us to control the channel itself. This work focus on improving the achievable maximum rate in an RIS-assisted MIMO system. In this work the implementation of a penalty dual decomposition gradient projection (PDDGP) method is used to solve our optimization problem, and a number of potential algorithms and their drawbacks are also discussed here. PDDGP algorithm gives better results as compared to all other algorithms. The improvement in the maximum rate after the proposed solution ranges from 1.48% to 8.65%, and the number of required iterations is reduced by as much as 79.5% from 278 iterations to 57 iterations.
