Visualization of Gas Spatiotemporal Distribution Using 2D LSPR Gas Sensor

Visualization of gaseous chemical substances such as odors is important technology, and this technology has the potential to be applied to various applications, such as searching for people at disaster sites and identifying hazardous materials. As an alternative technology to olfaction, semiconductor gas sensors are currently used to measure gases, but these sensors have problems such as slow response and slow sensor recovery, and it is also difficult to measure spatial distribution. We utilized, gas sensors using localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) gas sensor which have a real-time, fast response and fast recovery, making it possible to perform gas imaging and identification. Here, experiments were conducted to visualize and identify the spatiotemporal distribution of multiple gases using an 2D LSPR gas sensor and a hyperspectral camera.
