Abstract
We have measured transition frequencies, isotope shifts and hyperfinestructure splittings in the 3 d^2(^3F) 4 s ^4F_J→ 3 d^2(^3 F) 4 p ^4 G_J+1 transitionsin Ti^+ ions for J=3/2, 5/2, 7/2 usingcollinear laser spectroscopy. Ions were generated by laser ablation in a buffergas atmosphere and extracted into vacuum through a nozzle and a pair ofradiofrequency (RF) funnels. The obtained results are of interest as referencevalues for on-line measurements of short-lived titanium isotopes and forastrophysical searches for temporal or spatial variations of the fine structureconstant α using quasar absorption spectra.
