Wireless Mesh System Design for Photovoltaic Power Station Based on LoRa.

Photovoltaic (PV) power stations are usually deployed in remote areas, wherein the power production is adversely affected by natural disasters. Therefore, monitoring and analyzing the operation of PV power station requires the evolution of intelligent communication systems. However, due to the immature development of wireless Mesh networks, there is no unified communication scheme and transmission protocol established in remote intelligent monitoring. To tackle this problem, in this paper, we design a novel communication protocol for PV scenarios by transplanting the CONTIKI operating system on STM32. In particular, we integrate the LoRa terminal device with sensing monitoring to build an energy efficient wireless mesh framework. The designed system can effectively transmit the status of solar panels and the weather conditions to ensure the stability of the PV power plants. By coordinating the status of transmitting devices and designing the dual power supplies, the power consumption can be reduced. To confirm the practical value of the proposed framework, various routing algorithms were simulated using Cooja. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework is capable of achieving stable communication, and hence proves the capability for data transmission in various sensing and acquisition scenarios.
