Halides doping in the shallow lattice of BiOBr nanosheets promoting photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants

The Br- in crystal structure of BiOBr are easily doped by other halides. However, the effect of halides doping degree on the photocatalytic performances of BiOBr is barely known. Herein, the halides (X'=Cl, I) doping degree in BiOBr (X'-BiOBr) nanosheets were regulated by altering the molar concentration of doped halides. The lower concentration of halides was doped into the shallow lattice of BiOBr, while excessive halides were doped into its deep lattices. The doped halides in shallow lattices of BiOBr modified band structure, contributing to efficient charge separation for promoted photodegradation of organic contaminants. Particularly, X'-BiOBr with halides doping in the shallow lattice exhibited superior photocatalytic activities.
