Time perspectives are the vital personality traits contributing to problematic internet use (PIU), which can be classified as the protective time perspective (future orientation) and the risky time perspective (present and past orientations). The future time perspective diminished the risk of developing PIU whereas present and past time perspectives made individuals vulnerable to PIU. Nevertheless, the systematic examination of the dual effects of time perspectives on PIU and the longitudinal relation between them is still an unsolved issue.
