The adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)signaling pathway plays a pivotal regulatory role in meta-bolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).Activation of AMPK promotes the nucleocytoplasmic translocation of liver kinase B1(LKB1),downregulates key lipogenic factors sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c(SREBP-1c)and acetyl-CoA car-boxylase(ACC),thereby inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and promoting oxidation.Activation of the AMPK/mTOR pathway induces autophagy, alleviating hepatic steatosis. The AMPK-SREBP-1c/lipin-1 signaling axis suppresses de novo lipogenesis, while the AMPK/NRF2/HO-1 axis ameliorates MAFLD primarily through antioxidative stress and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),encompassing active components such aspolysaccharides, polyphenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, nucleosides, and herbal formulations, exerts its therapeutic effects by multi-target and multi-pathway modulation of AMPK-related signaling. This effec-tively improves lipid metabolism, insulin resistance, oxidative stress, inflammation, and gut microbiota dysbiosis, consequently retard-ing MAFLD progression. This review comprehensively explores the pathogenesis of MAFLD through the lens of AMPK and systemati-cally summarizes TCM-based therapeutic strategies targeting this pathway, providing a theoretical foundation and direction for future research and novel drug development.
Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture using back-Shu and front-Mu point combination plus Shaoyang meridian points on bone metabolism in treating osteoporosis patients. Method Seventy-two osteoporosis patients were randomly divided into an observation group(36 cases) and a control group(36 cases). The control group was given oral Alendronate sodium tablets, and the observation group received additional acupuncture treatment using back-Shu and front-Mu point combination plus Shaoyang meridian points. The bone density indicators, visual analog scale(VAS) score, and the levels of serum N-terminal mid-fragment of osteocalcin(N-MID OC) and β-C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen(β-CTX) were compared before and after the treatment. Result After the intervention, bone density and the serum N-MID OC level increased in both groups(P<0.05) and were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05). The VAS score and serum β-CTX level dropped after the treatment in the two groups(P<0.05) and were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Based on the oral pharmaceutical treatment, acupuncture using the back-Shu and front-Mu point combination plus Shaoyang meridian points can boost bone formation, inhibit bone resorption, strengthen bone density, and improve pain in treating osteoporosis.
