The increasing use of cross-sectional imaging has led to more frequent incidental detection of pancreatic cystic lesions, presenting diagnostic challenges for radiologists. These lesions encompass a heterogeneous spectrum ranging from benign cysts to premalignant and malignant neoplasms, often with overlapping imaging features. Accurate imaging-based characterization is therefore essential for risk assessment and clinical management. This review presents a morphology-based approach to pancreatic cystic lesions, emphasizing morphologic imaging patterns as a practical framework for structured interpretation. Key features—including ductal communication, internal architecture, and the presence of mural nodules or solid components—are discussed in relation to their pathologic basis and clinical implications. Representative examples illustrate the characteristic appearances of common cystic neoplasms, including serous cystic neoplasm, mucinous cystic neoplasm, and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm, along with their variants. Particular attention is given to diagnostic pitfalls and mimickers, such as cystic degeneration of solid tumors including neuroendocrine tumors, solid pseudopapillary neoplasms, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, which may closely resemble true cystic lesions but require fundamentally different management. Through illustrative cases, this review highlights the importance of integrating morphologic pattern analysis with enhancement characteristics, ductal anatomy, and ancillary imaging findings. Recognition of these patterns and potential pitfalls is essential for accurate interpretation and clinically meaningful guidance.
Recurrence of hiatal hernia after primary repair is a major concern, particularly early recurrence related to technical factors. Reliable preoperative predictors are essential for optimal surgical strategies. Because the hernial sac area can also affect operative complexity, this study aimed to evaluate early recurrence-associated factors and their relationship with operative time using quantitative computed tomography (CT). We retrospectively analyzed 48 patients who underwent laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair between July 2012 and July 2025. Preoperative CT was used to measure the maximum diameter and area of the hernial sac in the axial and coronal planes. We examined the association between these parameters and surgical outcomes including recurrence. Early recurrence was observed in four patients (8.3
Post-marketing surveillance was conducted in Japan (2015–2024, UMIN000056049) to evaluate the long-term safety and effectiveness of darbepoetin alfa for anemia with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) for 5 years after treatment initiation. Among 1834 patients (median age: 79.0 years), the distribution of International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS) risk categories was: Low, 39.3
We present a systematic calculation of the Huff factor for nuclei with atomic numbers (Z) in the range of 6≤Z≤94. The Huff factor quantifies the increase in the partial lifetime of the decay-in-orbit (DIO) of the muonic atom and serves as an essential correction factor for extracting the nuclear muon capture rate from the measured lifetimes of the muonic atom. However, previous calculations typically provided only the atomic number dependence and neglected isotope dependence—an assumption whose reliability had not been examined, despite its importance for a comprehensive understanding of the nuclear muon capture rate. In this work, we calculate the Huff factor using nuclear charge distributions obtained from a fully self-consistent microscopic nuclear structure model that incorporates pairing and deformation effects. The resultant Huff factors exhibit a monotonic decrease with increasing Z, while the isotope dependence is found to be small. Our results also show good agreement with previous calculations, supporting the reliability of the present framework. The comprehensive set of Huff factors presented here constitutes the first unified values currently available and will serve as a basis for future evaluations of muon nuclear data.
