Objective: This study is aimed to see level of satisfaction among patients coming to hospital, to identify the problem areas and also towards developing suggestions for better patient care. Methodology: Study design is cross sectional. Hundred indoor and hundred outdoor patients were selected for a period of about 2 months. Data was collected and analyzed by using statistical software SPSS 20. Results: A total of 200 patients were selected in this study,100 indoor patients and 100 outdoor patients. Of these 200 patients, 102 (51%) were male patients while 98 (49%) were female patients. Mean age of our study cases was 39.08 ± 15.33 years, 110 (55%) were from rural areas while 90 (45%) were from urban areas, 129 (64.5%) were literate and 105 (52.5%) were satisfied from the quality of the services being provided. Among indoor patients most unsatisfying point was behavior of nursing staff and among out door patients most unsatisfying point was long waiting time.
AbstractObjective:We present a 38-year-old man with a tension pneumo-orbit following medial orbital wall fracture, managed with endoscopic decompression.Method:A case report and a review of the world literature concerning the aetiology, clinical features and management of medial orbital wall fractures are presented. Results:Our patient presented with a post-traumatic tension pneumo-orbit exacerbated by air travel and nose-blowing. Computed tomography revealed a fracture of the ethmoid bone, and intra-orbital emphysema causing proptosis. Management with endoscopic, endonasal surgery produced excellent results, with decompression achieved and immediate and sustained improvement in visual acuity. Conclusion:A search of the world literature revealed no documented cases of tension pneumo-orbit as a complication of medial orbital wall fracture. Endoscopic sinus surgery is currently used in the management of nasal and sinus diseases and their orbital complications. We discuss this extended indication of endoscopic surgery, and its advantages over other surgical approaches.
Introduction- Foreign body is a substance that doesn’t belong to a location where it is found. Ear,nose and throat are common location for occurence of foreign bodies. It is a common problem encountered in both adults and children. Objective- 1) To analyse the different kinds of foreign bodies in ear ,nose and throat and their prevalence in different age groups. 2) To analyse the most prevalent site of foreign body among ear, nose and throat. Methods- A cross-sectional study was performed in our tertiary care hospital in Navi-mumbai. The study period was from august 2017 to august 2019. The study population were the patients who came to the out patient department and emergency room of this hospital. Result- A total of 100 patients as sample size with foreign bodies in ear, nose or throat were taken on first come basis. 62 were males and 38 were females. Of the 100 patients, 36 had foreign body in ear, 47 in nose and 17 in the throat. The foreign body was removed under local anaesthesia in 4% patients, with general anaesthesia in 30 % and with no anaesthesia at all in 66% patients. The most common age group affected was less than 10 years among both male and female patients. Conclusion- The most frequent site of foreign body occurrence was found to be nose. The most common site requiring general anaesthesia for foreign body removal was throat. Although most of the foreign bodies could be removed without any anaesthesia in the emergency room or outpatient department.
Aim: to determine the effect unilateral nasal obstruction on the middle ear pressure, Eustachian tube function and the type of Tympanometry of both ears before and after operation. Patients and Methods: Total 70 patients with unilateral nasal were recruited for this study .Tympanometry, Eustachian tube function and middle ear pressure were compared for all patients before and after operation. Result: 39 patients had type A tympanogram,8 type B and 24 type C before operation for the same side of ACP while for the other side there were (50 type A, 2 type B and 15 type C) tympanogram patients but after FESS operation there were (55 type A,1type B and 14 type C) tympanogram patients for the same side and (68 type A, 0 type B and 2 type C) tympanogram for the other side. also middle mean ear pressure for the same side before surgery was (-125± -9.3) and (-92.42± -7.4) for the other side and became (-45.14± -6.39) for the same side and (38.3±6.1) for other side, while ETF tests were bad for all ears on the same side of lesion and for (45) ears on the other side before surgical correction of nasal obstruction which became good ETF tests for all (70) patients on both sides. Furthermore, there were no significant correlations between type of tympanogram, middle ear pressure or ETF tests with the age and sex of patients. Conclusion: there was a definite relationship between nasal obstruction and type of tympanogrsm, MEP and ETF. Good Eustachian tube function tests aren’t always associated with type A tympanogram.
