Background:Homeopathic prescribing traditionally relies on detailed case taking, repertorization, and consultation of the materia medica to identify the most appropriate simillimum. With the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools, it has become possible to obtain rapid remedy suggestions based on symptom input, potentially bypassing classical repertorization steps. The extent to which such AI-generated suggestions align with classical repertorial outcomes remains insufficiently explored. Objective:To determine the concordance between remedies suggested by an AI-based tool and those obtained through classical repertorization using the Synthesis Repertory in cases of urinary tract infection (UTI). Methods:A retrospective comparative study was conducted on 34 well-documented UTI cases. Each case was repertorized using the Synthesis Repertory via Radar software, and the first 10 remedies were recorded. The same symptom totality was entered into an AI-based tool (HomeoXpert by Nambisons), accessed through ChatGPT, to obtain a single remedy suggestion. Concordance was classified as an exact match (same first remedy), within the first 10 repertorial remedies, or absent. Results:Exact concordance between the AI-suggested remedy and the first repertorial remedy was observed in three cases (8.8%). In 18 cases (53%), the AI-suggested remedy appeared within the first 10 repertorial remedies. In 13 cases (38.2%), the AI-suggested remedy did not appear among the first 10 repertorial remedies. Conclusion:AI-based remedy suggestions showed partial concordance with classical repertorial outcomes, most commonly appearing within the first 10 remedies rather than as an exact match. These findings suggest that AI tools may serve as supportive aids in the preliminary stages of remedy consideration but cannot replace classical repertorization and clinical judgment in homeopathic prescribing.
Objectives: To evaluate the clinical outcomes associated with Kreosotum 30C in patients with bacterial vaginosis. Material and Methods: Thirty patients with bacterial vaginosis diagnosed by vaginal smear microscopy were included in this study. Clinical symptoms were assessed using the vulvovaginal symptom questionnaire (VSQ). Treatment outcomes were evaluated by comparing pre- and post-treatment VSQ scores and Nugent scores obtained from vaginal smear microscopic examination. Quantitative data were analysed using a paired t-test. Results: A statistically significant reduction in disease severity was observed following treatment, as reflected by improvements in VSQ scores. Vaginal smear microscopy also demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in Nugent scores, indicating an improvement in the vaginal bacterial flora. Conclusion: Treatment with Kreosotum 30C was associated with significant improvements in both clinical symptoms and microbiological findings among patients with bacterial vaginosis. These findings suggest a potential therapeutic role for Kreosotum 30C in the management of bacterial vaginosis. Further controlled studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to confirm these observations.
Background: Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that occurs together predisposing one to develop diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular complications. The major features of the Metabolic Syndrome are central obesity, hyperglycaemia, hypertriglyceridemia, low levels of high HDL-C and hypertension. Studies related to the efficacy of homoeopathy in Metabolic Syndrome are limited. Objective: To study the utility of homoeopathic medicines in Metabolic Syndrome Methods: A prospective clinical study was conducted at the outpatient department of Government Homeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode, using a one-group before-and-after design. The assessment was based on the change in total score before and after treatment, and the statistical test used was a paired t-test. Results: Among the subjects with Metabolic syndrome, both sexes showed equal preponderance. The highest prevalence of Metabolic syndrome was noted in the age group 50- 60 years. A majority of patients had a family history of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease, indicating the possibility of hereditary influence. The study showed a significant difference in the total scores of assessment parameters before and after treatment of Metabolic syndrome with homoeopathic medicines. Additionally, more than 50% of subjects with metabolic syndrome had non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), supporting the idea that NAFLD is the hepatic manifestation of Metabolic syndrome. Conclusion: Based on this study, homoeopathic medicines were found to be useful in managing Metabolic syndrome.
Background: In today’s world, lumbago is one of the most prevalent and debilitating diseases. It is a disease condition, which is statistically recorded to seek medical attention second only to common cold. It mainly affects muscles, nerves and bones of the back in between the bottom fold of the buttocks and lower edge of the ribs. Globally, lumbago has been ranked 13th in disability adjusted life-years in the year 2010. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol both significantly lessen the pain. However, they shouldn't be used for an extended time duration. Lumbago is extremely hard to manage and there is still no cure. Surgery is advised as the last measure although it is usually unnecessary and rarely succeeds in offering long term relief. The objective of the study was to assess the role of individualized homoeopathic medicines in the cases of chronic lumbago by using oswestry disability index. Study Design is Prospective Observational Study. Methodology: 44 cases of chronic lumbago were treated with Individualized Homoeopathic medicines which were prescribed on the basis of totality of the symptoms. Dose and potency selection was done according to the guidelines given by Dr. Hahnemann in the 5th edition of Organon of medicine. Follow ups of the cases were taken at an interval of 15 days upto 3 months with minimum 6 follow ups. The treatment outcome was assessed by using Oswestry Disability Index after three months of treatment. Results: Out of 44 patients maximum patients showed Improvement (n=35; 79.54%) followed by Status Quo (n=8; 18.18%) and Worse (n=1; 2.27%). Maximum patients were found to be in the age group of 36 to 45 years (n=13; 29.54%) and females (n=30; 68.19%) were more commonly affected than males (n=14; 31.81%). Frequently prescribed medicines were Natrium Muriaticum, Phosphorus and Lycopodium Clavatum. Paired t-test was conducted on the Oswestry Disability Index. The result showed that p value is < 0.05 & value of t (15.115) is greater than the tabulated value in t-table at df = 43 (2.02) which was statistically significant. Conclusion: Homoeopathic medicines were effective in treating Chronic lumbago.
