The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (German: Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina – Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften), short Leopoldina, is the national academy of Germany, and is located in Halle (Saale). Founded on January 1, 1652, based on academic models in Italy, it was originally named the Academia Naturae Curiosorum until 1687 when Emperor Leopold I raised it to an academy and named it after himself. It was since known under the German name Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina until 2007, when it was declared to be Germany's National Academy of Sciences.
In digital mental health engagement rates are consistently low, which may limit its effects. Using an international multidisciplinary consensus method, including lived experience expertise and a systematic review, we identified three key challenges: (i) lack of agreed metrics for engagement; (ii) lack of evidence on how better engagement improves outcomes; (iii) lack of standards for user involvement. Three potential solutions encompassed: (i) standardisation of frameworks for reporting engagement metrics and optimal doses of digital tools, (ii) measuring engagement with more precise reporting of outcomes, including potential harms; (iii) defining standards of user involvement (including appropriate diversity, and clinician as well as user input). Digital interventions have real potential in meeting the shortfall in service provision for mental health, but this will require focus on high quality research studies of the underlying mechanisms of engagement and optimal outcomes. Our findings identify and highlight the next best steps in this process.
This review describes the Semper-Edition in its current version of March 2024, when work on the edition is at its midpoint of a projected 12-year processing time. Nevertheless, it seems suitable to review this resource at this point as it gives valuable insight into what constitutes good usability when going online at an early production stage. The edition encompasses Gottfried Sempers (1803–1879) opus magnum Der Stil in den technischen und tektonischen Künsten, oder Praktische Aesthetik (1860/1863), including draft versions, fair copies, proof stages, and complementing these texts with additional manuscripts closely linked to Der Stil, namely Vergleichende Baulehre, Kunstformenlehre and student notes on Semper’s lectures. The edition does not create one ‘Leittext’ (scholarly curated text) but aims at making the comprehensive content within these texts accessible and usable for different courses of analysis, achieving this by using a labelled property graph data base.
