The accumulation of discarded plastics contributes significantly to white pollution and biomagnification, positioning biodegradable plastics as a promising alternative. Currently, bioplastics account for less than 1
Chemotherapy and antimicrobial studies now increasingly emphasize on compounds exhibiting multiple biological activities, with hydrazones growing as versatile and extremely promising candidates. Traditional antimicrobial and anticancer medications, despite their advantages, are often constrained by issues such as adverse toxicity, the emergence of resistant strains, and a decline in therapeutic efficacy. Hydrazones, an important class of Schiff base derivatives are distinguished by their wide range of biological activities, structural diversity, and ease of synthesis, The azomethine (–C=N–) group coupled with a carbonyl unit provides remarkable stability and potent donor properties to hydrazones, allowing them to work efficiently as ligands in coordination chemistry. Organotin(IV) complexes based on hydrazones are attracting a lot of attention for their stronger anticancer effects and their potential applications in various medical and industrial fields. These complexes have significant antimicrobial and anticancer effectiveness via mechanisms involving oxidative stress generation, inhibiting enzymes, and stimulation of apoptotic processes. Recent research highlights the rising interest in hydrazone-based organotin(IV) complexes, since metal ion coordination can greatly boost biological activity of these complexes by improving lipophilicity, encouraging cellular uptake, and enhancing specificity toward biological targets. In this review, recent developments since 2016 in organotin(IV) complexes containing hydrazone ligands are covered in details, emphasizing their diverse structures, noteworthy antimicrobial and anticancer profiles, mechanistic insights, and potential for their progression into effective therapeutic agents.
Rare-earth co-doped phosphors are gaining prominence for their potential to overcome the limitations of current white light-emitting devices by enabling efficient energy transfer and tunable emission properties. The Ce3+-Dy3+ co-doped nanocomposite phosphors MgO-La1-x-yCexDyyAlO3 (x = 0, 0.009; y = 0, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07 and 0.09) were prepared using citrate assisted sol–gel method. The X-ray diffraction and the corresponding Rietveld refinements were utilized to confirm the face-centered and rhombohedral crystal structures of MgO and LaAlO3, respectively. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy images equipped with Elemental Dispersive Atomic X-ray spectra and elemental mapping revealed the inhomogeneous grains with uniform elemental distribution while XPS shows the presence of each element in their respective oxidation states. The optical bandgaps of the synthesized nanocomposites were found to range from 5.53–6.04 eV. The energy transfer behavior from Ce3+ to Dy3+ has been extensively investigated via Photoluminescence excitation spectra, emission spectra and time-resolved photoluminescence. The plausible energy transfer mechanism was found to be d–d interlinkages with an energy transfer efficiency of 82
Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is gaining significant attention due to their unique physicochemical characteristics and diverse applications. AgNPs can be synthesized using bacteria, yeast, plants, algae, fungi, microbial enzymes, etc. The present study focuses on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Spirulina platensis (AgNP@SP). The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by a color change from green to red and by a surface plasmon resonance band observed at 420 nm in the UV–visible spectrum. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were further characterized using FE-SEM, XRD, and FTIR, and EDX analysis. Their antibacterial and antifungal activities were evaluated against four different microbial strains. The presence of functional groups such as carbonyl (C = O) and carboxyl (COOH) on the nanoparticle surface was attributed to their antimicrobial activity. The presence of silver in AgNP@SP was confirmed by EDX analysis, which revealed silver and oxygen contents of 64
The rapid expansion of financial technology (FinTech) has transformed global financial ecosystems. However, in India, FinTech providers continue to face challenges in motivating customers to integrate such services into their daily financial practices. This study aims to identify the determinants influencing Indian consumers’ behavioral intentions toward FinTech adoption by employing an extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework. Using a random sampling approach, data were collected from 472 FinTech users across India and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the hypothesized relationships. The findings reveal that consumers’ behavioral intentions toward FinTech services are positively influenced by performance expectancy, customer support, social influence, effort expectancy, trustworthiness and privacy belief. Conversely, risk propensity is shown to have a negative impact by reducing the likelihood of FinTech adoption among users. Theoretically, the study enriches the technology adoption literature by extending the UTAUT framework with FinTech-specific constructs such as trust and privacy belief, thereby enhancing its contextual relevance to emerging economies. Practically, the results highlight the need for policymakers and FinTech firms to strengthen trust-building mechanisms, ensure privacy protection and enhance customer support systems. Promoting digital literacy and equitable access, particularly in underserved regions, can further foster inclusive FinTech adoption in India.
