Helsinki Art Museum (Finnish: Helsingin taidemuseo, Swedish: Helsingfors konstmuseum), abbreviated as HAM, is an art museum in Helsinki, Finland. It is located in Tennispalatsi in Kamppi. The museum reopened after renovations and rebranding (as HAM) in 2015.The museum is owned and operated by the city of Helsinki. It looks after the city's art collection, containing over 9,000 works. Nearly half of these are on display in public places such as parks, streets, schools and libraries. The art museum hosts a small permanent exhibition of the works of Tove Jansson, including two large frescoes originally created for the restaurant of Helsinki City Hall. The director of Helsinki Art Museum since 2013 is Maija Tanninen-Mattila.
Bifunctional chiral N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands have been devised for enantioselective gold(I) catalysis. Based on a single C‐stereogenic center derived from chiral pool α‐aminoacids and connecting an imidazopyridine core to an arylurea motif, enantioselective gold(I)‐catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions could be achieved. High enantioselectivities were notably observed for substrates presenting a pendant propargyl alcohol on 2‐naphthol and 1,6‐enyne scaffolds. In the latter case, the catalyst shows a high degree of selectivity for the unprecedented 6‐endo‐dig biscyclization of these substrates to give cyclopropyl‐fused 6‐ring heterocycles with a free OH functionality instead of the previously reported furan‐fused products. This unusual selectivity was investigated by DFT studies, which suggested the dual role of the carbonyl group of the urea moiety: first as H‐bond acceptor in the catalytic cycle to direct the enantioselectivity, second as a cooperative group in the hydrogen shift leading to deauration.
The upper secondary school education in Finland has undergone major changes over the last twenty years. The largest change was a stepwise move to electronic matriculation examinations in 2016. The aim of this study is to find out how high school geography teachers perceive the changes and how this change is reflected in the assessment of the tests in geography. The data is based on a survey among geography teachers conducted in the spring of 2023, the results of which are compared with geography examination scores from the Matriculation Examination Board for the years 2017–2024. In general, geography teachers have a positive attitude towards the digitalisation of teaching and examinations, but the impact of the reform of the teaching structure on their work has been largely negative. The study provides insights into the everyday life of an upper secondary school geography teacher and sheds light on the impact of the reforms on their work.
