A new copper(II) salicylate complex [Cu(sal)(bpy)]4.5H2O with bulky substitution (sal = doubly deprotonated salicylic acid, bpy = 2,2’-bipyridine) has been synthesized. The structure of the copper complex was analyzed by FT-IR, TGA, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) studies. SC-XRD showed that the structure contained a mononuclear and a binuclear molecule together with water molecules. The coordination geometry around copper in the case of mononuclear and binuclear molecules is approximately square planar and square pyramidal, respectively. Supramolecular assembly was stabilized by O-H···O and C-H···O bonding along with π···π interactions, which were explored in detail by Hirshfeld surface analysis in terms of interatomic contacts. Voids analysis predicted the mechanical stability of the crystal. The structural and geometric properties of both mononuclear and binuclear copper molecules were analyzed using DFT calculations at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ/6–311 g (d, p) level. Furthermore, the in silico anticancer potential of the complex was explored through molecular docking simulations against the VEGFR2 protein.
The current state of Russia’s agricultural industry requires the implementation of energy-saving technologies capable of creating an optimal seedbed in a single pass. Traditional passive tillage methods often fail to achieve the required fine-grained soil structure, especially in heavy and waterlogged areas, leading to reduced seed germination. The use of vibratory working tools significantly reduces traction resistance by dynamically affecting the structural bonds of the soil.
The article presents the results of numerical modeling of the interaction between a seeder's working tool and the soil during subsoil fertilizer application using the discrete element method (DEM), implemented in the Rocky DEM software package. The paper discusses the specifics of developing a computational model of the soil medium, selecting contact and physical-mechanical parameters of the particles, as well as defining the boundary and initial conditions for the simulation. A description of the working tool's geometry and the algorithm for conducting the numerical experiment is provided. The distributions of soil particle velocities and displacements, the nature of furrow formation and the fertilizer placement zone, as well as the force characteristics of the tool-soil interaction, were obtained. The influence of the working tool's design and operational parameters on the process of soil failure and redistribution was established, which allows for the substantiation of rational parameters for the seeder's working tool for subsoil fertilizer application.
This article describes two clinical cases of upper eyelid coloboma with confirmed cardiac pathologies. In the first case, a 4–4.5-month-old kitten underwent bilateral canthotomy to reduce the palpebral fissure. After surgery, soft contact lenses were placed under the eyelids to prevent the formation of adhesions. The kitten died within two hours of surgery from alveolar edema. A morphological examination of the kidneys and heart was performed. In the second case of eyelid coloboma in a 10-month-old cat, a preliminary cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) was performed. The echocardiographic examination revealed signs of grade 2 hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). After the first menstrual cycle, hormonally induced fibroadenomatous hyperplasia of the mammary glands was detected.
The article analyzes gender relations in the modern world based on the ancient concept of self-control (enkrateia). According to the authors, the concept of power over oneself as a justification for power over another, which served as the basis for building both social and intimate relationships in the patriarchal world, in the context of modern realities marked by legal and material parity in intersexual relations acquired by women, receives a new meaning: power over oneself (self-restraint/self-repression) serves as a condition for the freedom of another. The source of the sought-after balance in gender interaction, according to the authors, are the socio-economic (labor) relations that have changed in post-industrial society, creating conditions for unalienated, free work that brings satisfaction and independence.
