Background: Nephrolithiasis, or kidney stone disease, affects about 12% of the Indian population, causing significant morbidity from acute abdominal pain and complications. Standard care includes observation, medical expulsive therapy, and surgery, but many patients choose homeopathy for its perceived safety and accessibility. Evidence for individualized homeopathic treatment in nephrolithiasis remains unexplored. Objectives: To describe clinical outcomes and safety of individualized homeopathic treatment in patients with nephrolithiasis across different practice settings in West Bengal. Methods: This multi-centre, retrospective, non-consecutive case series selectively reported successful cases of nephrolithiasis managed by qualified homoeopathic physicians. Patients with stones ≥5 mm were included. Remedies were prescribed individually in centesimal or fifty millesimal potencies, based on holistic assessment. Follow-up ranged from 43 to 1359 days, with ultrasonography confirming stone expulsion. Data on demographics, stone features, prescriptions, and adverse events were analysed descriptively. Results: Twenty-three patients (mean age 38.5 years; 78% male) were included. Stones were most commonly in the right kidney (47.8%) and ureters (39.1%), with a median size of 9.26 mm (range 5–22 mm). Median expulsion time was 152 days (range 43–1359). Frequently prescribed remedies were Lycopodium clavatum, Calcarea carbonica, Natrum muriaticum, Nux vomica, and Pulsatilla nigricans. No serious adverse events occurred. Mild hydronephrosis and transient hematuria resolved spontaneously. Pain during expulsion was effectively managed with remedies. Conclusion: Individualized homoeopathic treatment may support spontaneous expulsion of renal calculi, even >5 mm, with good safety outcomes. Larger prospective studies are needed to validate these findings.
Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) (ICD 11 EA80) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory skin disease with severe pruritus and eczematous lesions. Conventional treatments yield temporary relief with potential recurrence. Individualized homoeopathic treatment seeks to re-establish systemic balance by holistic means. Case Summary: A 10-year-old boy presented with intense itching and offensive sticky secretions over the flexural side of the right elbow for six months. The condition was recurrent, with earlier suppression by allopathic medication. On thorough case analysis, mental, physical, and miasmatic assessment the entirety of symptoms pointed towards Graphites as the similimum. Graphites 200 (two doses) followed by placebo resulted in noteworthy improvement within three weeks. At the second follow-up, lesions had completely cleared, and after that two-month follow-up showed no recurrence of the symptoms with General well-being, regular bowel movements, and sound sleep. Results: The case was evaluated with the Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy (MONARCH) and scored +9, establishing a strong causal connection between the remedy and cure. The improvement was in accordance with Hering's Law of Cure and involved both local and general improvement. Conclusion: This case illustrates the potential therapeutic usefulness of individualized homoeopathic management with Graphites 200 in the treatment of chronic atopic dermatitis. The chronic and overall improvement attests to the therapeutic applicability of homoeopathy in chronic skin diseases and deserves further systematic investigation. The most frequent cause of acute ureteral blockage is urinary stones. The conventional medical system offers several methods for treating urolithiasis, including various synthetic and natural medications and surgery. In this case series, we managed four cases of renal stones (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision code N20.0) with classical, individualized homoeopathy. Every case was followed up using clinical and ultrasonographic or X-ray evidence and reported as per the HOM-CASE guidelines. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy (MONARCH) was used to evaluate the cause-attribution of prescription medicines. All four patients made a full recovery, and posttreatment reports revealed that there were no residual calculi. Individualized homoeopathic medicines phosphorus, Lycopodium clavatum, and Thuja occidentalis showed beneficial effects in these cases. Each patient's overall MONARCH score was either +8/13 or +9/13. Individualized homoeopathic treatments were successful in removing kidney stones quickly and without any adverse side effects.
A 19-year-old teenager came to the outpatient department, with complaints of fever, intense redness inside the oral cavity, bleeding from inner aspect of the lower lip, difficulty while opening the mouth, pain while swallowing solid as well as the liquid along with burning sensation, itching, flaking, crusting and agglutination of both the eyelids.
Background: Melasma, a common acquired hyperpigmentation disorder, often poses a therapeutic challenge due to its chronic nature and tendency to recur. Method: This case report presents a successful management of melasma using homeopathy in a 48-year-old female patient. The homeopathic approach targeted individualized treatment, addressing the patient's overall health and emotional well-being alongside the skin condition. A detailed case history, the prescribed homeopathic remedy, and the patient's outcomes are discussed. Result: Gradual reduction of MSR score and MONARCH score (+9) together establishes the improvement of the case. Conclusion: The positive result indicates that homeopathy can be a valuable complementary therapy for the treatment of melasma.
