1Optimizing ESP Performance: Dual-Stage Sand Filtration and Flow Back Control
    N. I. Rodríguez, M. A. Camacho, R. Cantillo, L. Guanacas, G. Gozalez, M. Ricon

Abstract This paper presents advanced solids-management technologies designed to increase the service life of electric submersible pumping (ESP) systems by reducing failures and/or unplanned shutdowns caused by pump shaft sticking (Johnson et al., 2022; González and Guanacas, 2017). As a result, these technologies contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and the environmental impact associated with well interventions (Mariano and Mariano, 2021). These technologies were implemented in eighteen different wells operated by Pemex, where well performance was analyzed before and after the installation of the equipment (Odessa Separator Inc., 2026). For the purpose of this paper, the analysis of four wells will be presented. In these wells, two sand-management systems were utilized. One system is installed above the ESP and is known as the Sand Lift (a tool designed to prevent sand settling toward the ESP pump stages once the system is shut down), while the other is located below the ESP equipment, functioning as a two-stage filtration system. These systems contribute to the production of a homogeneous fluid stream through tubing while also enabling sample collection during equipment retrieval, repair, and inspection. This provides operators with valuable information regarding sand granulometry and subsurface conditions (Sherlock-Willis et al., 1998). These operational advantages have been successfully applied in multiple wells, ensuring longer ESP equipment life while reducing the need for frequent well interventions and pump replacements, ultimately lowering the carbon footprint. Stable ESP sensor readings have also resulted in increased cumulative production by minimizing downtime associated with sand-related failures. The successful application of complementary integrated sand-control systems has extended the productive life of the wells until the ESP needs to be resized to match reservoir conditions (González and Guanacas, 2017).

2Introducing the First High-Definition T1-T2 LWD NMR Technology for Medium-Size Boreholes: Performance Demonstrated in Mexico
    P. Flores Lalo, A. Garcia Quirino, J. Chico, M. Rojas Villaseñor, J. Carrillo, V. Newberry, Z. Ramadan, S. Utsuzawa, F. Esmail, M. Langston, S. Singh, J. Lin,

Abstract Logging while drilling (LWD) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a mature formation evaluation technology that provides lithology-independent porosity, fluid characterization, and producibility indicators in real time. Conventional LWD NMR services typically rely on either T2- or T1-based acquisition modes, each offering specific advantages but with inherent limitations. This paper presents field results from a newly developed 6.75-in. high-definition (HD) new-generation LWD NMR system that integrates advanced hardware, flexible acquisition, and unified processing workflows to enhance formation evaluation in challenging drilling environments. The tool was qualified through a comprehensive testing program at the Catoosa field test facility in Oklahoma, where it was deployed while drilling through well-characterized formations to validate measurement stability, acquisition robustness, and real-time processing performance under realistic drilling conditions, confirming readiness for field deployment. The system extends high-definition NMR measurements to medium-size boreholes and demanding operational conditions through an optimized magnet configuration, upgraded electronics, and improved antenna design, and enables simultaneous T1 and T2 acquisition while drilling, delivering real-time high-definition relaxation distributions and derived petrophysical outputs independent of drilling mode. The combined T1–T2 capability improves sensitivity to both fast- and slow-relaxing components, enabling more robust differentiation of bound and movable fluids and improved characterization of complex pore systems, while enhanced vertical resolution and signal-to-noise ratio allow detection of fine-scale formation heterogeneity not resolved by previous-generation LWD NMR technologies. Short echo spacing acquisition and high-quality raw data enable reliable high-resolution NMR answers at moderate to elevated rates of penetration, with real-time results matching recorded-mode processing, and lateral motion effects are mitigated through hardware optimization, acquisition design, and integrated job-planning workflows linking NMR physics with drilling dynamics. Field results from a horizontal well in Mexico demonstrate the capability of the system to deliver high-definition NMR measurements in real time, and integration with 360° reservoir mapping within a cloud-based platform enabled proactive well steering and improved placement confidence in low-resistivity reservoirs, highlighting the value of combining advanced LWD NMR measurements with real-time reservoir mapping to optimize horizontal well execution.

3Bilateral Paramedian Thalamic Infarction: Percheron Syndrome -a Case Report.
Julio César López-Valdés, Kashif Qureshi, Santiago Puentes-Rosero, Laura Mestre-Orozco, Bipin Chaurasia, Kivanc Yangi

Background: Bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction due to occlusion of the artery of Percheron is a rare but clinically significant cerebrovascular event. Occlusion of the artery of Percheron may result in bilateral infarction, often presenting with altered mental status, vertical gaze palsy, and cognitive dysfunction. Case presentation: We present a case of a 67-year-old female with poorly controlled hypertension and diabetes who developed acute neurological symptoms. Initial CT imaging was unremarkable, but MRI confirmed bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction. Clinical discussion: Anatomical variations, such as the rare presence of the Percheron artery, can significantly alter the vascular architecture, leading to unique clinical syndromes when the artery is occluded. Conclusion: This report underscores the diagnostic challenges associated with Percheron syndrome. Treatment primarily involves supportive care, risk factor management, and rehabilitation.

4Unplanned Casing Shoe Setting Led to a New Well Schematic Optimized Design for Futures Wells at Quesqui Field
    A. Rivera, C. Rodriguez, J. Peralta, A. Hernandez, R. Maldonado

Abstract This paper documents the successful optimization of well schematic after an unplanned casing setting. That failure required the use of an Ultra Low Invasion Reinforcement Technologies while drilling Q-49 well in Mexico, which changed the well schematic design for all future wells. The use of these technologies allowed for the effective expansion of the operating window, ultimately leading to a successful completion of the drilling stage without the need for additional casing. The study highlights best practices and lessons learned during the drilling process. The implementation of Wellbore Shielding technology (also known as Ultra Low Invasion) in the recent field development has proven to be an extremely resistant and flexible solution for real-time hole reinforcement while drilling. This technology has enabled continuous operations without compromising well integrity. Constant monitoring of concentration levels through SBT (Sand Bed Test) enables early detection of unfavorable conditions and prompt action, as demonstrated in the case study to be presented. The use of software while drilling also led to early detection and monitoring of the fluid conditions. This application allowed the operator to increase the operative window over 900 psi, without destabilizing the wellbore. The drilling fluid density used exceeded well above the maximum permissible level of the density gradient, however no destabilization was observed. This solution also resulted in the elimination of an additional casing to isolate the two formation pressures. Since two different formation pressures had to be drilled with the same drilling fluid, the use of this technology represented a dramatic reduction of fluid loss rate, from 95 bbl/h to less than 1.9 bbl/hr. This case study demonstrates how using an appropriate formation-strengthening technology, which is proven to significantly increase the operating window and significantly reduce lost circulation under dynamic conditions without suspending operations for loss control, optimizes operating costs and improves operating conditions, leading to the well's success.

5An Updated Overview for Rhinoplasty Techniques.
Héctor Gutiérrez Reyes, Rafael Delgado Duarte, Leonardo Agassini Arroyo Rodarte, Armando Viramontes Perez, Francisco Javier Cano Palacios, Manuel Alejandro Aguilar Sabori, Carlos Daniel Rangel Romo, Daniela Lizeth Ramírez Colón, Jonathan Nadiell Lopez Barba, Jesús Alberto Camacho Zárate

Rhinoplasty is a complex and versatile surgical procedure aimed at reshaping the nose for aesthetic and functional purposes. It employs diverse techniques, primarily categorized into open and closed approaches. Open rhinoplasty, characterized by a transcolumellar incision, allows superior visualization and precise modifications, making it suitable for complex cases and revisions but carries risks such as extended nasal tip edema and scarring. Closed rhinoplasty, devoid of external incisions, offers reduced recovery times and minimal visible scarring, albeit with limited access and visibility. Minimally invasive approaches, leveraging endoscopic visualization and piezoelectric instruments, are gaining traction for their ability to minimize tissue trauma and enhance recovery. Specific grafting techniques, such as lateral crural strut grafts and tongue-in-groove modifications, optimize structural support and nasal tip aesthetics while addressing demographic and ethnic variations. Despite advancements, rhinoplasty is associated with complications, including graft resorption, scarring, nasal obstruction, and residual deformities, underscoring the need for meticulous planning and patient-specific strategies. This review highlights the significance of tailored approaches in rhinoplasty to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes while minimizing complications.
