Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, commonly caused by Coxsackievirus A16, can manifest in atypical and severe forms associated with the CVA6 serotype, termed "eczema coxsackium," which may mimic serious pathologies. This report describes the case of a 10-year-old boy with a diffuse maculopapular rash, targetoid and bullous lesions, and systemic compromise, initially diagnosed as erythema multiforme major. The discussion focuses on the differential diagnostic challenge with eczema herpeticum, highlighting that despite the alarming clinical presentation, etiological confirmation via PCR for CVA6 was crucial to rule out other infections, discontinue unnecessary acyclovir, and focus treatment on supportive care, leading to a favorable outcome. In conclusion, eczema coxsackium due to CVA6 should be considered in severe vesiculobullous rashes, with PCR being essential for an accurate diagnosis and proper management, as its prognosis is generally benign.
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has made teachers’ adoption of AI increasingly important. Although technology acceptance research is extensive, less is known about how socio-technical factors shape teachers’ willingness to adopt AI and whether these relationships vary across national contexts. Drawing on Socio-Technical Systems (STS) theory, this study conceptualizes AI adoption intention as a function of two subsystems—social (communication climate, collaboration, and leadership support) and technical (infrastructure adequacy and task–technology fit)—and examines how these relationships differ between two national samples and across levels of AI familiarity. Survey data from teachers in the United States (n = 290) and China (n = 235) were analyzed using multi-group confirmatory factor analysis and country-specific moderation regressions. In the U.S. sample, the technical subsystem was positively associated with AI adoption intention, whereas the social subsystem showed a significant negative association. In the Chinese sample, neither subsystem showed a significant direct association. Familiarity with AI moderated these relationships differently across samples: in the U.S., higher familiarity attenuated the negative association between the social subsystem and AI adoption intention and weakened the positive association between the technical subsystem and AI adoption intention; in China, the social subsystem became positively associated with adoption intention at higher levels of familiarity, whereas the technical-subsystem interaction was not statistically significant. Because individualism–collectivism was inferred from country membership rather than measured at the individual level, these patterns are interpreted as preliminary, context-sensitive cross-sample patterns rather than confirmed cultural mechanisms. The findings offer exploratory evidence that socio-technical relationships in teachers’ AI adoption may vary across national samples and levels of AI familiarity. Practical implications highlight the need for context-sensitive socio-technical strategies to support AI integration in education within settings similar to the U.S. and Chinese samples studied here.
Fruits and vegetables are major sources of bioactive compounds included in human diet. The objective of the study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity and total phenolic compound content of lychee pulp. Hydroalcoholic extracts were obtained from the pulp (fresh, dried and freeze-dried), and analyzed by in vitro Folin-Ciocalteu, Fast Blue, ABTS+, Beta Carotene and Phosphomolybdenum Complex assays. The color and water activity of the pulp submitted to each dehydration treatment were also evaluated. The results obtained in the determination of total phenolic content did not differ statistically (p>0.05) between dried and freeze-dried pulp. The values obtained for the antioxidant activity by the ABTS+ method and by the phosphomolybdenum complex had a statistically significant difference. The data regarding the percentage of protection by the ?-Carotene/Linoleic Acid method showed that the dried pulp did not differ statistically from the fresh and freeze-dried pulp. However, the freeze-dried pulp presented higher antioxidant activity by the ABTS+ and Phosphomolybdenum Complex assays when compared to the other treatments (fresh and dried pulps).
