In this paper, we investigate the interactions of the Dirac oscillator in the context of global monopoles, focusing on the effects of fermionic fields in curved space–time. By analyzing the Dirac equation and employing a partition function, we derive essential thermodynamic properties such as Helmholtz free energy, average energy, entropy and heat capacity. The results reveal that variations in the topological defect parameter and angular frequency significantly influence these properties, affecting both energy levels and information measures in position and momentum spaces. This research highlights the intricate relationship between thermodynamic behavior and quantum information, paving the way for further exploration in quantum computing applications.
Few studies have investigated the ichthyofauna of streams in the upper Purus River basin, hampering efforts to understand the diversity of these numerous bodies of water. This study presents the first inventory of the ichthyofauna in the upper Purus-Antimary interfluve, southwestern Amazonia. The study was based on data compiled from various sources, including online repositories, scientific articles, and fish collected from four streams in a protected area. We assessed species richness, distribution area, conservation status and anthropogenic threats. The fieldwork study was carried out in four "terra firme" streams in the Purus River basin, with fieldwork conducted during the rainy season in March and November 2017. We identified a total of 92 species, 26 families, and six orders. The order Characiformes exhibited the highest species richness with 42 species, followed by Siluriformes with 34, and Gymnotiformes with 8 species. The Characidae family was the most diverse, with 25 species, followed by Loricariidae with 11 species and Callichthyidae with seven species. The collected fish samples totaled 1,794 individuals representing 58 species, 22 families, and 4 orders. The most abundant species were Knodus smithi with 307 individuals, followed by Chrysobrycon hesperus with 247 and Tyttocharax madeirae with 165. Most species were classified as being of low conservation concern. The study expanded the known extent of occurrence for Anablepsoides hoetmeri to 2,163.777 km2. Our findings underscore the importance of conserving aquatic habitats and riparian vegetation within the upper Purus-Antimary interfluve, given the presence of a rich and restricted ichthyofauna. Furthermore, we highlight the significant risks posed by anthropogenic pressures such as deforestation for pastures, wildfires, and illegal fishing activities.
Recent research on home advantage (HA) in professional football leagues during the COVID-19 pandemic has yielded conflicting findings, prompting further examination of the impact of social support elimination on teams accustomed to packed stadiums. We analysed HA changes among the 51 European teams with the highest average attendance per match over the past five seasons: two pre-pandemic (2017/18, 2018/19), one pandemic (2020/21) without crowd support, and two post-pandemic seasons (2021/22, 2022/23). Employing four linear mixed models (teams as a random factor) - two encompassing teams across different league tiers ("all teams") and two focusing solely on "top-tier teams" - we found a significant negative correlation between team ability and HA, with each unit increase in team ability associated with a 0.12% to 0.15% reduction in HA. Specifically, top-tier teams experienced a notable 7% decrease in HA during the COVID-19 period (p < .05). Our analysis also underscored the explanatory power of crowd density, positively influencing HA changes for all teams. This study suggests that HA fluctuations during COVID-19 were partially related to team ability rather than crowd absence in stadiums, implying that HA changes may vary depending on the team. Practitioners and sports organisations can use these findings to gauge the magnitude of HA in specific contexts, while considering variations in team ability. This insight facilitates informed decision-making regarding match preparation, training programmes, structure regulations, and marketing strategies. Future research should pay close attention to sample selection, as minor modifications can have substantial implications for understanding the crowd support effect on HA.
