During the survey 50084 patient’s data were collected and after removing patients who didn’t have any geriatric symptoms and comorbidity, this left a sample of 19740 patients. Methods: The retrospective cohort study was conducted. Result: The main characteristics of study sample, according to enrolment. The 10 most common chronic diseases observed in the study population in a decreasing frequency were knee joint pain (58.55%), cardiovascular diseases (51.26%), eye or vision related conditions or problems (46.59%), hypertension (38.16%), constipation (34.20%), back pain (33.33%), refractive error (33.31%), diabetes (27.60), sleep related problem (20.75%) and abdominal discomfort (18.56%). The knee joint pain (58.55%) was more prevalent in males (29.45%) than females (29.10). Conclusions: The age-related physiological deterioration of normal physical functioning is the source of many chronic health issues, such as poor mobility, vision, hearing, memory loss, difficulty eating and digesting food, and an inability to manage specific physiological systems. Integrating AYUSH treatments into conventional healthcare could enhance holistic approaches to addressing chronic illnesses in geriatric age group.

2A Comparative Study of Homoeopathic Decimal Versus Centesimal Potency Medicine in the Treatment of Cervical Spondylosis
    Swati Singh, Neeraj Gupta

Background: Cervical spondylosis (CS) is a degenerative condition of the cervical spine found almost universally in persons over50 years of age. It has become one of the common problems globally. Methods: An experimental study was conducted on 60 patients diagnosed with cervical spondylosis as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria. All 60 cases of cervical spondylosis were randomized into 2 groups of 30 patients each. One group was prescribed with Individualized Homoeopathic medicine in decimal scale potency and the other group was prescribed with centesimal scale potencies of Individualized Homoeopathic medicine. The Remedy Response Evaluation Form was used to assess and interpret the follow up of the patients. The improvement of the patients was assessed by the Neck Disability Index (NDI). Result: Intra-group changes in NDI score were found statistically significant (P < 0.001, unpaired t test) group difference though favored centesimal against decimal. Conclusion: On statistical analysis, the p value was less than 0.001. Hence there is a significant difference between post treatment score of centesimal potency group as compared to decimal potency group.

Dibyendu Mandal, Soumyadeep Maity,Abdur Rahaman Shaikh, Sabir Ahamed,Priyanka Ghosh,Shyamal Kumar Mukherjee,Munmun Koley,Subhranil Saha

AbstractHypertension (HTN) remains one of the major risk factors for heart failure, stroke, and coronary heart disease worldwide. This study was undertaken to compare the antihypertensive effects produced by the mother tinctures (MTs) of three homeopathic drugs—Rauwolfia serpentina (RS), Viscum album (VA), and Spartium scoparium (SS; also known as Cytisus scoparius [CS]) in essential hypertension. This open-label, randomized, three parallel arm, pragmatic, pilot trial was conducted on 60 participants with essential hypertension in the outpatient department of D. N. De Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Participants were randomized into three groups: RS, VA, and SS equally. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were measured at baseline and after 30 and 60 minutes. Group differences at different time points and overall were measured using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and three-way repeated measure ANOVA models, respectively, after adjusting for baseline differences using intention-to-treat approaches. A p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Endpoint analysis included 60 participants. Although the highest mean reductions in SBP and DBP with time were achieved in the RS group, all three medicines revealed similar antihypertensive effects without any significant differences (SBP: F 2, 57 = 1.710, p = 0.190; DBP: F 2, 57 = 0.732, p = 0.485). No harm or serious adverse events were reported from either of the groups. All three medicines (RS, VA, and SS) produced similar antihypertensive effects in essential hypertension. Trial registration: CTRI/2021/02/031548; UTN: U1111–1264–6856.
