The main objective of this research was to investigate how fear of COVID-19 affects the mental well-being of employees in Lahore. The study considered two important factors: the potential mediating effect of psychological distress and the potential moderating effect of perceived organizational support, and aimed to establish connections between these variables. The study gathered data from 324 participants from the public sector, regardless of gender, occupation, or job status, using convenient sampling methods and Google Forms and questionnaires. The results showed that individuals working in healthcare and the general public who experience increased levels of fear about COVID-19 are more likely to have compromised mental health. However, perceived organizational support was found to have no significant potential to alleviate the negative impact of psychological distress on employees' mental health. It is important to note that the study's conclusions are specific to the population surveyed in Lahore, as the research was limited to a single city in Punjab and the sample size was small. Future research could focus on strategies to mitigate fear during pandemics, thereby improving the overall quality of life for individuals. This study highlights that emergencies such as the fear generated by COVID-19 can negatively impact both physical and psychological health among employees. Therefore, it is recommended that healthcare workers and other professionals receive training to enhance their resilience in the face of such emergencies. This research fills a gap in current knowledge by examining the management of pandemic-related fear and its consequent negative impacts, while also highlighting the crucial role of perceived organizational support. Additionally, the study emphasizes the intermediary function of psychological distress in this context.
Mental health plays a vital role in our ability to think, feel, interact, work, and enjoy life individually and collectively. A person's mental health is affected by several things at any moment, some of which are social, psychological, and biological. Children of working mothers may have different degrees of anxiety, depression, and social problems. Adolescents' mental health has been the subject of countless global studies. Still, less is known about the differences in adolescent mental health between children whose mothers work and those whose mothers do not work outside the home. This research aimed to compare students' mental health in public and private schools in Lahore based on their mothers' employment and its correlation with other socio-demographic characteristics. The research was cross-sectional and included 150 randomly chosen people from many different strata. The collected data were entered and analyzed using SPSS version 26.0. The majority of students we checked attended private schools. The study findings revealed no significant association between the mental health status of adolescents and their mothers' working status, especially in the private sector. However, a noteworthy correlation was observed between mental health status and gender. The average score for mental health assessment was not satisfactory. In conclusion, this research found no statistically significant difference in adolescents' mental health across groups depending on their mothers' employment level. The results indicated that a mother's employment or lack thereof had little impact on her children's psychological health. However, when comparing the mental health of male and female students, there was a clear gender gap. Adolescents' mental health was not significantly affected by factors like their mothers' education, the sort of household they were born into, their birth order, or their parents' monthly income. To learn more about this issue, researchers should investigate how teenagers see their parents' parenting styles in the future.
Aim. Following the analysis of literature data, to determine significant factors of intestinal obstruction in patients with colorectal cancer. Materials and methods. We analyzed 84 literature sources from the Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and PubMed databases, as well as open access articles on Google. Results. The predominant causes of anastomotic leaks after operations for colorectal cancer are discussed, the role of the microbiome in the development of postoperative complications is analyzed. The intestinal microbiome of patients with colorectal cancer contains bacteria that are not normally found under physiological conditions. These bacteria contribute to the development of disease, suture failure after surgery for intestinal obstruction, and progression of carcinogenesis. This effect is due to the production of bacterial metabolites, the effect on the human immunity, and competition with obligate intestinal microflora. On the other hand, the use of drug therapy, including antibiotics, leads to mass death of obligate bacteria. Therefore, it is important to search for drugs and treatment methods that, if possible, do not have a significant negative impact on the microbiome, but are capable of destroying pathogenic microorganisms. The concept of Russian authors was proposed, which consists in the intraluminal use of rifaximin-α for the prevention of purulent and septic complications and anastomotic leaks during reconstructive surgeries on the distal colon.
