In 2023, the authors introduced LCD subspace codes, generalizing the concept of LCD codes. Recently, in 2025, Çalkavur and Solé presented multisecret-sharing schemes that are based on LCD codes. In this paper, we design a multisecret-sharing scheme using LCD subspace codes. The proposed scheme is a (k,k)-threshold scheme that is anonymous and inherits error-correcting capabilities from the underlying LCD subspace code. We analyze the security of the scheme, including its resistance to coalition and brute-force attacks, and discuss its computational complexity. A comparison with existing code-based multisecret-sharing schemes shows that the proposed scheme achieves a significantly larger secret space and a higher information rate. An example over F3 is provided to illustrate the construction.
Purpose: The widely spread membrane and soluble Klotho protein plays a pivotal role in vascular calcification by orchestrating calcium/phosphate/magnesium homeostasis mediated by the Klotho/fibroblast growth factor 23 receptor complex. Our aim was to review new scientific data and discuss the role(s) of Klotho in vascular calcification. The basic procedures were to review the literature concerning Klotho and its mechanisms of action during physiological and pathological aging. Main findings: A lack of Klotho shortens the lifespan, increases vascular calcification and the frequency of cardiovascular diseases with multiple organ degeneration and weakness in experimental animal models. In humans, the most prominent decrease of Klotho protein and mRNA is found in patients with chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD), which shows accelerated aging due to increased vascular calcification. Additionally, Klotho acts in an endocrine manner participating in different signaling pathways as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-fibrotic and anti-aging mediator, preserving vascular structure and function. Principal conclusions: Klotho is a possible early marker for the detection and monitoring of subclinical arterial calcification in patients with CKD-MBD and in the general population.
Sustainable coastal destinations offer a variety of natural and cultural activities that form a construct of motivations that influence tourist behavior regarding their willingness to return to and recommend the destination. In this sense, the present study aimed to achieve the following objectives: to identify the motivations that drive tourist demand in sustainable coastal destinations, to establish which motivations predict tourist satisfaction in coastal destinations, and to determine which motivations predict tourist loyalty in coastal destinations. There are behavioral variables to consider, such as the intention to return, willingness to recommend the destination, and propensity to speak positively about it. The study was carried out in Monta & ntilde;ita (Ecuador), a major surfing city in Latin America with extensive potential for water sports. A total of 380 valid surveys were collected on-site for quantitative analysis. Multiple regression and exploratory factor analysis were among the methods used. The final results showed five motivational dimensions linked to tourism in coastal areas, including nature and culture, sun and sea, recreational and sporting activities, novelty, and social interaction. Among all these factors, social interactivity and novelty stood out as the elements that had the greatest impact on visitor loyalty and satisfaction, followed by the sun and beach component. The findings will serve as input for destination managers to develop sustainable management guidelines and are also a contribution to academic literature.
The focus of the research is aimed at establishing a theoretical model derived from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), adapted to specific crisis conditions and analysed in a real-life scenario - pandemic crisis related to COVID-19. In the described environment and in the mobile banking segment, the purpose of the study is to develop a conceptual framework based on the TAM and to find out impact of the variables analysed (perceived usefulness, perceived benevolence, and perceived risk) on customer advocacy as well as behavioural intention. Within field research the survey was conducted and the gathered data analysed by means of structural equation modeling (SEM). The key findings emphasize that perceived benevolence plays the key role in the model, stressing the importance of having clients' interests and their wellbeing in the focus of service providers, especially in the times of crisis. Perceived benevolence has a positive impact on customer advocacy and customer advocacy has a positive impact on behavioural intention. Moreover, perceived benevolence is a mediator between perceived usefulness and perceived risk on one side and customer advocacy on the other, further reflecting on behavioural intention. The research findings shed light on the concept of perceived benevolence of service providers and show its important role, especially in times of crisis.
Recent genetic studies on the genus Pelophylax have explored regional distribution patterns and evolutionary relationships, helping to clarify taxonomic uncertainties and support the monitoring of biological invasions. Within this group, Pelophylax kurtmuelleri has received particular attention in Europe due to its invasive potential. Despite earlier reports of its occurrence, it has not been regarded as a native component of the Croatian fauna. Here, we confirm the presence of P. kurtmuelleri in Croatia and provide evidence that it is native to southern Dalmatia, specifically the Konavle Field and the Neretva River Delta. Analyses of one nuclear (SAI-1) and two mitochondrial markers (COI and ND2) identified 34 individuals of P. kurtmuelleri, with no evidence of other Pelophylax species, hybrids, or hybridogenetic complexes. These findings complement previous studies based solely on mitochondrial DNA, which suggested the presence of P. kurtmuelleri across the Adriatic basin, including Croatia and adjacent regions. Given the morphological similarity between P. kurtmuelleri and Pelophylax ridibundus, as well as the frequent occurrence of hybridization within the genus, our results highlight the importance of combining nuclear and mitochondrial markers to resolve taxonomic ambiguity. This integrative approach provides clear evidence for the existence of pure P. kurtmuelleri populations in southern Croatia, supporting its status as a native species in this region.
