
Negative symptoms represent a core feature in schizophrenia and the deficit syndrome in chronic schizophrenic patients is closely related to their poor outcome and global failure in community adaptation. Atypical antipsychotics have been widely used in the treatment of negative symptoms in schizophrenia, and tend to produce a better response when used in association with antidepressants. We describe a case series of patients with a clinical diagnosis of residual type of schizophrenia, who have undergone an augmentative treatment of antipsychotic medication with venlafaxine. Both primary and secondary negative symptoms, as well as the overall functioning in these patients were substantially improved following this treatment. This is the first clinical study describing the combination of venlafaxine with both conventional antipsychotics and novel antipsychotics, such as risperidone, to treat successfully both secondary and primary negative symptoms in schizophrenia. We also discuss possible modes of action of the joint use of this particular antidepressant with antipsychotic medication.
We present abstracts of MSc theses defended in 2009 at the Faculty of Medicine, University "Ss Kiril and Metodij", Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. English summaries are published as they are translated by authors and included in the final version of defended MSc. Macedonian Medical Master of Science (MSc) theses are deposited in the Central Medical Library in Skopje.Editorial Borad do not take any responsibility either for the content, nor the quality of the abstracts.At the Faculty of Medicine, 30 MSc theses were defended in 2009. Eight MSc theses are without abstarcts (26.7%), 8 MSc theses are with unstructured abstracts (26.7%), and 14 are with structured abstracts (46.7%) which is significant improvment in comparison with defended MSc in 2008. For one MSc there are not any details about the thesis (Elena Manoleva Nikolovska. Anthropometrical indicators for evaluation of the nutritive status in children between ages of 3 until 36 months), and one MSc was retracted (Ana Strezova. Genotyping of HLA-A, HLA-C and HLA-B loci with Reverse Line Strip hybridization in Macedonian Population and association of HLA class I alleles with spondilitis).We have to repeat that primary responsibility for the quality of the MSc theses belongs to the mentors, to the institutions they are representing, and to the Vice-Dean of science. All of them should be more actively involved in the preparation of Master of Science theses in order international standards to be achieved.
Aim. The aim of this report is to retract the results of Ana Strezova submitted without permission of her mentor and her institution for Master of Science (MSc) degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University “Ss Cyril and Methodius”, Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Material and Methods. Two populations were published from the same cohort: i) in the 15th International Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Workshop 250 samples for HLA-A, 247 samples for HLA-B, 250 samples for HLA-C, 564 samples for HLA-DRB1, and 213 samples for HLA-DQB1 were included; and ii) in retracted MSc degree 250 samples for HLA-A, HLA-B and HLA-C were included. Results. HLA DNA typing results from Macedonian population were officially submitted for analysis and publication to the 15th International Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Workshop (IHIWS). Results were prepared and submitted for publication in Tissue Antigens (received 7 July 2009; revised 12 January 2010; accepted 1 February 2010). Ana Strezova without permission of her mentor and director of the Institute of Immunobiology and Human Genetics submitted MSc thesis for defence with the identical results as in submitted manuscript. A total number of 5 HLA genes and 220 alleles are published by the 15th International Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Workshop in comparison with 3 HLA genes and 58 alleles in retracted MSc thesis. Conclusion. The results of the MSc thesis of Ana Strezova with the title “Genotyping of HLA-A, HLA-C and HLA-B Loci with Reverse Line Strip Hybridization in Macedonian Population and Association of HLA Class I Alleles with Spondilitis” are retracted because: i) the content was already submitted for publication; ii) the statistical methods are inappropriate for ambiguous resolution of the data; and iii) the permission was not allowed by her mentor and director. Editors-in-Chief and employers are advised to be aware of possible acceptance of this thesis and the results submitted in the future for publication.
Acutes corrosive poisonings can cause serious chemical injuries of the upper gastrointestinal tract, and they are localized most frequently in the esophagus and the stomach because the poison remains there a long time. Treatment of the acute corrosive intoxications include: neutralization of corrosive agents, antibiotics, corticosteroids, anti-secretory therapy, nutritional support, collagen synthesis inhibitors, esophageal dilation and stent placement, and surgery. The damaged mucosa, submucosa and muscle layer regenerate with great difficulty because of the surrounding inflammation, necrosis and secondary complications. Tissue fibrosis, adhesions or circular stenosis appear, which greatly disturb the normal functioning (impeded peristaltic, impeded passage). All these complicate the entire general condition of the patient, including inadequate normal food intake, loss of body weight, prostration, cachexia. These patients are also into a severe general condition due to hypercatabolic state and negative alkali balance. Therefore, early nutritional support is of substantial importance in treatment of these patients. Nutritional support can be given by parenteral way in peripheral or central vein and by enteral way through specially designed tubes inserted in the stomach or intestines, prepyloric or postpyloric. The type of artificial nutritional support will depend on the grade of esophageal or gastric damage determined by endoscopy.
A 48-year-old man with retrosternal chest pain and upper abdominal pain with propagation to the back, with clinical signs of nausea, dyspnea and dysphagia was referred to the Clinics of thoracic surgery. After esophagography, operative treatment was indicated. Left thoracotomy with mediastinothomy were performed. During the operation, a sample of pus was taken and sent for a microbiological examination at the Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology, Medical Faculty in Skopje. Standard microbiological procedures were used. The sample was cultured anaerobically on Schaedler agar and incubated for 48 hours at 37ºC. Oval, smooth colonies were observed. Gram stained smear revealed short branching Gram-positive filaments suspected for genus Actinomyces. For a definitive diagnosis and differentiation of the Actinomyces species, an automated VITEK system was used. Two weeks after treatment by ceftriaxon, metronidazol and analgetics, all clinical signs improved and patient was released in good physical condition.
Aim. The aim of this study was to present the country rank, journal rank and H-index in the field of medicine in the Republic of Macedonia (1996-2008) using data from SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SCImago) . Material and Methods. SCImago database was used for analysis of country rank, journal rank and H-index in the Republic of Macedonia and other former Yugoslav countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro) for the period of 1996-2008, as they are presented in the Scopus database. Results. Of a total number of 222 countries for the period of 1996-2008, the Republic of Macedonia with H-index of 20 is placed on the 118th position of the country rank, the percentage of citable documents in the field of medicine is 88.92%, and the percentage of relative production of documents in the world is below 0.01. In 2008, Macedonian biomedical journal Prilozi is ranked on the 2484th place with 0.048 SJR of citable documents in the last three years. The biggest H-index of 10, for the period between 2007and 2008, in the Republic of Macedonia had nephrology subject category, followed by medicine (miscellaneous) with H-index of 7, haematology and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism with H-index of 6, transplantation, oncology and pathology and forensic medicine with H-index of 5. Conclusion. There is only one Macedonian biomedical journal (Prilozi, Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Section of Biological and Medical Sciences) included in the Scopus database for the period between 1996 and 2008, probably by mistake in the list of journals from Serbia, instead from the Republic of Macedonia. The priority task of the Editorial Boards of other Macedonian medical journals is to include their journals in the Scopus database.
Background. On the evidence-based information of breast cancer as a preventable disease, an attempt is made for definition of primary, non-chemical prevention of the epidemic breast cancer. The battle over healthcare reform, besides other priorities, is revolving around women’s issues and health protection too. Aim. To add to the knowledge and to advance the tested concept of the potential for primary (non-chemical) prevention of breast cancer as an epidemic disease. Ultimately, to present from a medical point of view the attempted definition of a preventive contraception against the epidemic breast cancer. Justification. The number of cases and the incidence of breast cancer is in a steady increase worldwide and in our country, Macedonia, (with more than 800 cases, or 76.2 crude rate per 100,000 female population, in 2008), followed by great losses and expenses in human lives, individual and familial sufferings and disasters, and material resources. It could be assessed that no healthcare reform could be achieved successfully as long as the half of the population, women of all ages, is threatened by a real risk of breast cancer as an epidemic disease. The changes in the biological micro-environment and ecosystem of the intimate (sexual) woman-man relations, which is still unknown, reflect gravely upon the health and lives of people, especially women of all ages. Primary (non-chemical) prevention of breast cancer is neither mentioned nor considered in the ongoing debate of healthcare reform, in the scientific literature, and at the conference meeting. Evidence and Discussion. The results of the initial field study and other ecological and experimental studies showed and corroborated the evidence that the mass condomization of women’s sexuality is the root cause of the perplexing emergence and rapid rise of the breast cancer epidemic all over the world along with the occurrence of the AIDS epidemic, after 1981. Prevention of breast cancer rather than programs of mass mammographic screening for early detection of cases of the disease are discussed. The views on contraception and marriage of the main religious denominations in the Western world, which were relevant to the aim of this study, are briefly presented. The negative consequences of screening of the disease and the recent debate of questioning the breast screening programs is discussed. Conclusion. From a medical standpoint, to achieve the suggested primary prevention of the breast cancer epidemic it is necessary to eliminate completely the barrier devices and methods of contraception, the condom use and withdrawal practice. Instead of use of barrier methods, a replacement is to be done by shifting to use of other, non-barrier methods and techniques for fertility-control and family-planning purposes during the reproductive life-span of women, which include: abstention, rhythm, IUDs, OC pills, and tubal ligation.
BACKGROUND:Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is the most common hematologic malignancy in children. In young children it is also largely curable, with more than 90% of afflicted children achieving long-term remission. PRAME (Preferentially expressed antigen of melanoma) gene belongs to Group 3 class I HLA-restricted widely expressed antigens in which genes encoding widely expressed tumor antigens have been detected in many normal tissues as well as in histologically different types of tumors with no preferential expression on a certain type of cancer. It has been found to be expressed in a variety of cancer cells as leukemia & lymphoma. PRAME monitoring can be useful for detection of minimal residual disease and subsequent relapses particularly those leukemias in which specific tumor markers are unavailable. Wilms' tumor1 (WT1) gene was identified as a gene that plays an important role in normal kidney development and inactivation of its function was shown to result in the development of Wilms' tumors in paediatric patients. Disruption of WT1 function has been implicated in the formation of many different tumor types.AIM:to study how PRAME & WT 1 genes expression patterns influence cancer susceptibility & prognosis.PATIENTS & METHODS:50 patients with denovo childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, as well as 50 age and sex matched apparently healthy volunteers were genotyped for PRAME and WT1 genes expression by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).RESULTS:PRAME gene was expressed in 34 of the patients (68%) and WT1 gene was expressed in 26 of the patients (52%). Expression of both genes was significantly higher compared to controls (P < 0.0001). Analysis of relapse free survival among our patients revealed that patients expressing PRAME gene or WT1 gene had better relapse free survival (p value=0.02 and 0.01 respectively). Relapse free survival increased significantly among patients coexpressing PRAME and WT 1(p value =0.001).CONCLUSION:It is concluded that the expression of PRAME and WT1 genes are indicators of favorable prognosis and can be useful tools for monitoring minimal residual disease (MRD) in acute leukemia especially in patients without known genetic markers. Differential expression between acute leukemia patients and healthy volunteers suggests that the immunogenic antigens (PRAME and WT1) are potential candidates for immunotherapy in childhood acute leukemia.
Abstract AIM: To present contemporary major public health challenges and comprehensive policy framework and strategic vision of the "Health 2020" for improving population health and well-being in Europe. METHODS: Retrospective study based on the available indicators of the health status of the population in Europe, social determinants of health and health-related behavior, health systems and public health services, and analysis of the WHO policy documents, reports and commitments leading to the new coherent approach and strategic vision "Health 2020". RESULTS: The 21st-century health landscape is shaped by growing global, regional and local interdependence and an increasingly complex array of interlinking factors that influence health and well-being. Most of today’s major public health challenges, including non communicable diseases, antimicrobial resistance, health inequalities and the health effects of austerity measures in some countries, cannot be addressed effectively without inter sectoral and coordinated action at supranational, national and local levels. The 53 countries of the WHO European Region developed and adopted a European policy framework and strategy for the 21st century (Health 2020) as a common, evidence-informed policy framework to support and encourage coordinated action by policy-makers at all levels and in all sectors to improve population health and well-being. CONCLUSION: This article presents the development process of Health 2020 and its main strategic goals, objectives and content. Further, it describes what is needed to successfully implement Health 2020 in countries and how WHO can provide technical assistance to countries that embark on developing health policy aligned with the Health 2020 policy framework. The development and implementation of Health 2020 is a powerful vehicle for concerted inter-sectoral action across the WHO European Region for improving health and well-being of present and future generations. Successful implementation of Health 2020 needs providing technical assistance by WHO to the countries to embark on developing health policy aligned with the Health 2020 policy framework.
BACKGROUND: Â X-ray and sonomammography constitute a significant option in the early detection and management of breast diseases in the developed world. Unfortunately these modalities became available in Nigeria, only in the past few decades.AIM: The aim of this audit is therefore to document the imaging findings, in the past three years in a developing facility in Nigeria relating them with the demograghic features.METHODS: We prospectively studied the x-ray and sonomammography in all patients, presenting over a three year period, for breast evaluation with the hope of discerning the epidemiologic pattern of breast lesions in this environment.RESULTS: One hundred and forty-five females and four males. Median was 38 years (IQR=30-48). The commonest reason for evaluation was screening. Patients that were below 38 years showed no significant difference in frequency and type of lesion compared with patients over 38 years. The commonest breast pattern was fatty replaced. The upper outer quadrant was the commonest site.CONCLUSION: Patients presenting for breast evaluation in Calabar do so for screening mainly. Patients below 38 are nearly equally affected by malignant breast disease as their older counterparts. The commonest breast pattern was fatty replaced. Digital mammography should be available in all tertiary institutions.
In the maxillofacial skeleton, chronic osteomyelitis is more often observed in the mandible than maxilla. Maxillary osteomyelitis is rare because of its rich blood supply. It is usually seen in individuals with impaired immune response, uncontrolled diabetes and hospitalized patients. It can be caused by bacterial, fungal or viral infections. We report a rare case of maxillary osteomyelitis caused by an emerging mucormycete, Apophysomyces variabilis.
Aim: The aims of the study were: 1. revealing the new indicator(s) in internal organization of sleep in psychotic states; 2. constitution of new neurophysiologic and statistical models of sleep perturbation in psychotic states and/or altered states of consciousness based on experimental data. 3. Introduction of new sleep marker as biological marker for distinction of sleep organization by different psychotic states. 4. Established new hypothesis and theories in functions of sleep and dreams.Methods: The clinical neurophysiologic test (Polysomnography - PSG) were performed on 90 drug-free patients - 60 with depression (30 patients with reactive depression F32.0, F32.1, and 30 patients with depression with psychotic future F32.3); and 30 patients with Acute schizophrenia and schizophrenia-like states F23.1, F23.2 (all according to the DSM-IV criteria). Polysomnography was used for two nights, sleep staging (according to the criteria of Rechtschaffen & Kales, 1968) and statistical analysis of 130 sleep parameters with logistic regression (discriminative analysis “step by stepâ€). All patients were drug-free in 3 days (1st adaptation night and 2 nights sleep investigation). The bigger part of investigation was performed in “Zentrum fuer Chronomedizin“in Wuerzburg (Germany) and one part at Psychiatric Clinic in Belgrade (Serbia).Results: 1. The results of our investigations demonstrate that the ratio between REM and NREM time in the first period of sleep (index of endogenous perturbation of sleep or IEP-P1=REM-1/NREM-1) is statistically the most significant chronobiological marker of internal sleep organization (through maturation and in different pathological states); 2. IEP-P1 is a highly reliable indicator of the development of endogenic perturbation of sleep in depression, mania, schizophrenic and other psychotic states, and in organic brain syndromes.Conclusion: IEP-P1 could be a new biological marker to distinction of sleep organization in different psychotic states and other states of altered consciousness. The developed statistical models could be the basis for new hypothesis and theories about functions of sleep and dreams.
BACKGROUND: It is unclear whether the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) assay accurately reflects glycemic control in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).AIM: To evaluate the usefulness of glycated albumin (GA) in diabetic CKD population with reference to glycemic control in comparison to HbA1c.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Totally 194 Diabetic CKD (Male: 126, Female: 68) patients who attended a private nephrology clinic, were taken for the study. The age ranged between 18 to 87 years. Blood samples were collected in fasting state in all the patients and all biochemical estimations were done using fully automated analyzer. RESULTS: The mean estimated GFR levels were 82.47, 44.32, 24.13 and 10 ml/min/1.73 m2 in Group I, II, III & IV respectively. The GA levels were significantly increased when the eGFR levels have been decreased. Also the GA: HbA1c ratio differed significantly when compared between the groups I & II, I & III and group I & IV of CKD patients.CONCLUSION: GA estimation is a useful marker in assessment of short term glycemic control in stage III & IV (< 30 ml/min/1.73m2) diabetic CKD patients. GA: HbA1c ratio if routinely done may also become a useful marker in Diabetic CKD population in future.
AIM: Prompt discovery of allosensibilisation to RBC’s antigens during pregnancy and successful management of HDFN in Republic of Macedonia, in order to decrease morbidity and mortality of the fetus and the newborn.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprises in total 23,800 patients, 14,858 pregnant women and 8,842 newborn babies.RESULTS: The screening and identification of anti RBC’s antibodies detected in total 216 alloantibodies, out of which 81% (175) had a clinical significance. Out of the above mentioned 164 alloantibodies (65.9%) belong to the Rh system. The most often reason for a severe hemolytic disease is the anti-D antibody. The HDFN symptoms of mild and moderate degree demonstrated 32.5%, and 18.9% had symptoms of severe fetal suffering, and almost half of them (48%) were with or with mild HDFN and had no need of therapy. In 15% it was about alloantibodies of other Rg antigens: anti-C, anti-E and anti-c, at which in most cases there were no signs of HDFN, or it showed weak symptoms (89%), just one case of anti-c ended with intrauterine death.CONCLUSIONS: Anti D antibody represents the most often reason for severe HDFN and displays a need of intrauterine transfusion and exsangvino transfusion. Anti-c is the only antibody that demonstrated the same potential for severe HBN as the anti-D. The most often reason for alloimmunisation of the mother is the lack of RhIG prophylaxis (97.8): postnatal, antenatal and in case of possible sensible conditions during pregnancy. Thus, there is a need and an outmost importance of elaboration and adoption of the National programe for RhIG prophylaxis in Republic of Macedonia.
AIM: This study aimed to investigate the value of DNA ploidy and galectins-3 immunostain in the preoperative evaluation of thyroid epithelial lesions.MATERIAL AND METHODS: Sixty patients presenting with thyroid enlargement were included in this study and referred by clinicians for FNA. Routine cytological evaluation was done on PAP  stained slides according to the WHO criteria and at least three slides were prepared for routine cytological examinations. The nuclear DNA analysis was performed at the Pathology Department, National Research Center using the Leica Qwin 500 Image Analyzer (LEICA Imaging Systems Ltd, Cambridge, England). Galectin-3 expression was investigated in all tissues using streptavidin-biotin technique.RESULTS: Conventional Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of 60 cases could diagnose malignancy with a sensitivity of 60%, negative predictive value (NPV) 71.4%, and overall diagnostic accuracy of 80%. The aneuploidy was significantly associated with malignancy, with sensitivity 90.9%, specificity 83.3% and accuracy 88.3%. On using galectin-3 immunocytochemichal stain on cell blocks prepared from FNA the values were improved, sensitivity 93.3% specificity 86.7% and overall accuracy 90% and it was noticed that galectin-3 over expression was significantly associated with malignancy.CONCLUSIONS: From the results of this study we can consider that DNA ploidy and Galectin-3 could refine the FNA results and increase its sensitivity as a screening test from sensitivity(60%) to reach sensitivity (93.3%), thus decreasing the false negative cases. From this study, it is concluded that the application of ancillary techniques as galectin-3 immunocytochemical markers may become a reliable indicator for surgical intervention, DNA ploidy measurements on the other hand may be of value in galectin-3 negative cases to determine the behavior of the lesion in such cases & refine the preoperative assessment by out ruling false negative cases.
BACKGROUND: Several tools such as, dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and self-assessment tool (OST), are being used for diagnosis of osteoporosis.OBJECTIVE: to compare the sensitivity and specify detection rate of bone mineral density (BMD) changes for DXA versus QCT and OST among a sample of Egyptian adults of both sexes.SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This study is a cross sectional one, which included 62 Egyptians, aged 20-65 years. Each individual was assessed for BMD using DXA at femur and spine sites; QCT and OST which take into account body weight and age. Accordingly they were diagnosed as either osteoporotic/osteopenic or normal.RESULTS: The highest prevalence of osteopenia or osteoporosis was diagnosed among menopause women. DXA at femur has diagnosed more cases of osteoporosis (both osteopenic and osteoporotic) as compared to spine DXA or QCT, but OST is out of rang; as it failed to diagnose any case.CONCLUSION: DXA has been found to be more efficacious than QCT scan in the diagnosis of osteoporosis. DXA in femur is better than DXA-spine and QCT. Generally, DXA is the "gold standard" when assessing osteoporosis. Further studies are needed to modify the equation of OST and confirm its efficiency in Egyptians population.
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Leptin was assessed to play a coordinating role in obesity and its cardio-vascular complications, however the findings are conflicting and further clinical investigation is required. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association of serum leptin with cardio-vascular risk factors in different body mass index and age groups.MATERIALS AND METHODS:Â One hundred and forty nine female patients were enrolled in the study and divided into groups according to body mass index (BMI) and age. Following measurements were carried out: height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure. Venous blood sample was obtained for plasma leptin, insulin, glucose and lipid profile analysis. Insulin resistance index was calculated for each patient. Body fat distribution was measured using Dual energy X-ray Absorbtiometry.RESULTS: The lowest leptin concentration was observed in overweight patients, the highest concentration was seen in obese patients. The difference between leptin levels were not observed in age groups. Leptin positively correlated with high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in obese and elder patients.CONCLUSION: Leptin might act as a preventive measure for cardiovascular complications only in the presence of sufficient amount of fat mass. Further studies are warranted in order to support these results.
High-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma is a rare uterine malignancy. The cells of these tumors resemble endometrial cells in the proliferation stage, with many small plexiform arterioles. Herein we present a patient with endometrial stromal sarcoma that metastasized to the brain, along with the CT and MRI findings and a discussion of the surgical and histopathological features of the metastatic tumor. Immunohistopathological examination of the metastatic tumor showed a high mitotic rate and strong immunopositivity for CD10 and vimentin (as a mesenchymal marker); therefore, the lesion was considered to be high-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma. Due to the rarity of reported cases of metastatic brain tumors of high-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma, there isn’t a standard treatment protocol; however, metastatic tumors of high-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma match the same general concepts of brain metastasis. In addition, endometrial stromal sarcomas may be associated with hemorrhagic metastasis to the brain due to their pathologic characteristics.
BACKGROUND: Association between vitamin D, adiponectin and obesity is a matter of debate, as they play important role in linking obesity with different cardio metabolic risk factors.AIM: Evaluation of association between metabolic risk factors with both adiponectin and 25-Hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH) D] levels and that between adiponectin and [25(OH) D] among obese Egyptian children.SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This case-control cross sectional study consisted of 65 obese and 30 healthy children, aged 8-11 years. 25(OH) D, serum adiponectin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol were measured.RESULTS: The mean 25(OH)D and adiponectin levels in the obese were lower than that in control group (ð‘ƒ<0.000). 25(OH)D were inversely correlated with body mass index, triglyceride, total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol. While adiponectin level were inversely correlated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and positively correlated with high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol. However, there is no relation between 25(OH) D and adiponectin levels among obese children and total sample.CONCLUSION: Inspite of strong association between vitamin D and adiponectin levels with metabolic risk factors and obesity, there is no relation between 25(OH)D and adiponectin levels. In obese children, There are significant negative correlations between 25(OH)D with lipid profile, and between adiponectin levels with blood pressure.
