COVID-19 created an unplanned shift in where work took place. As women in Israeli high-tech moved across on-site, hybrid, and remote arrangements, it became possible to compare how strongly bias-related workplace experiences were reported across settings. Using survey data from 219 women and an adapted version of the Gender Bias Scale for Women Leaders (Diehl et al., 2020), this study examines whether work setting is associated with differences in everyday experiences of visibility, participation, and recognition. The clearest differences appear in on-site work. Women working on-site report stronger pressure around speaking up, greater caution in self-promotion, and sharper awareness that leadership and decision spaces are male dominated. Flexible work offers partial relief from some daily pressures, but it does not remove broader inequality and may weaken informal access to sponsorship and influence. The findings suggest that work arrangement matters for how bias is experienced. For organizations, the implication is direct: choices about presence, flexibility, and office time shape culture, inclusion, and the conditions under which women are seen, heard, and advanced.
Today computers are ubiquitous, and both our working and leisure hours are increasingly being spent in sedentary fashion online. Lack of physical activity is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease, but few studies examine the link between computer use and health. The European Social Science survey questions as to daily internet use, allowing study of the association with cardiovascular problems. Mean daily internet use was compared between those with self-reported heart and circulation problems and high blood pressure and those without. The nature of the relationship was studied with Generalized Additive Modelling (GAM). There was no difference in mean internet use between those with high blood pressure or heart problems and those without. GAM showed the association between internet use and heart problems alters with age; risk was raised in younger ages, but lower when older. BMI was found to be important in mediating the influence of internet use in the young. Socio-economic factors mediated the age effect. The influence of BMI for young ages suggests a link with weight, activity and diet. For older people, the influence of socio-economic factors suggests that the social and cognitive benefits of internet use may offer protection. There may be a link with higher health literacy and thus better heart health. Internet use should be considered a causative risk factor of itself.
War veterans are a vulnerable group due to economic, psychological, medical, and social factors. Modern society is to reintegrate veterans into the social environment, which is only possible through special social support programs. The purpose of the study is to determine the forms, methods, and instruments of social protection useful for Ukrainian social policy based on an analysis of global practices in social support for war veterans. Accordingly, the subject of the study is the global experience of social protection for war veterans. Methods of scientific research were used: analysis of documents, statistical processing of materials, and generalization of the empirical data obtained. The study yielded the following results. Research into the philosophy of social support in developed countries has shown the main direction of social support for war veterans: to build a ramified, multifactorial, effective system for reintegrating former military personnel into the social environment, rather than limiting oneself to the introduction of compensatory state payments and subsidies. Extensive experience in developing and implementing social support programs around the world shows that there is a need to create conditions for the resocialization of military personnel through state programs and the active participation of civil society. The Ukrainian state and society must accept the best patterns of the experience of the prominent countries of social aid for building their own system designed to address all the social problems of war veterans, which, unfortunately, is still ongoing.
This study investigated the relationship between hydrotherapists’ attitudes toward the social inclusion of children with special needs and their perceptions of these children’s executive functioning (EF). Hydrotherapists (N=69) from rehabilitation centers and clinics across Israel completed questionnaires assessing demographic and professional characteristics, attitudes toward inclusion, and perceived EF challenges and strengths in children (PIC-ME, adapted as a clinician-report measure). Results revealed a significant positive correlation between children’s EF and therapists’ attitudes: higher levels of EF -specifically self-regulation - consistently predicted more favorable attitudes toward inclusion. The findings also suggest that hydrotherapists’ attitudes toward inclusion are linked to both their professional background and their perceptions of children’s functional abilities in everyday therapeutic contexts. The study underscores the need to consider how clinicians’ perceptions may shape expectations and support regarding children’s social inclusion and the importance of addressing executive functioning - particularly emotional regulation - in both therapeutic practice and professional training.
This article examines the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in parliamentary activities in the context of the digitalization of public authorities, with a focus on legislative procedures, parliamentary control, and interaction with citizens within the framework of e-parliamentarianism. The study employs analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, the comparative legal method, and normative analysis of legal acts of the European Union, the Council of Europe, and recommendations of interparliamentary organizations. Institutional and functional analysis is used to systematize the main areas of AI application in parliamentary practice. The research identifies key areas of AI use, including the preparation and analysis of draft legislation, support for parliamentary oversight, analytical assistance to parliamentary work, and enhancement of institutional transparency. At the same time, significant risks are highlighted, such as insufficient algorithmic transparency, threats to personal data protection, institutional imbalance, and excessive automation of decision-making processes. AI should function exclusively as a supporting tool in parliamentary activities, with human involvement preserved at all stages of decision-making. Effective implementation requires clear regulatory frameworks, compliance with international standards, and a human-centered approach. Gradual and controlled integration of algorithmic tools is recommended to improve the quality of parliamentary procedures while maintaining democratic legitimacy.
Today, the digital space became a natural landscape of identity formation, determining, in turn, individual’ societal functioning and political behavior. Accordingly, propaganda influence processes also significantly moved to online environment, especially social media as a crucial platform for communication, including political one. At the same time, as previous studies revealed, this digitally constructed identity is fragmented to a more or less extent – the phenomenon called “fragmented Self”. This determines the relevance of investigating mechanisms of the place of fragmented Self phenomenon in the processes of shaping public opinion through propaganda, as well as functioning of social media as a soft power tool. In this context, the study aimed at outlining the mechanisms of social media-constructed identity influence on the effectiveness of digital propaganda and soft power tools. The study is based on qualitative methodology, with the application of both content analysis and grounded theory elements. The findings demonstrate societal implications of the fragmented Self phenomenon within the context of soft power. The novelty of the results lie, in particular, in juxtaposition and connection of Michel Foucault’ theory of fragmented Self and Joseph Nye’ theory of soft power, in the plane of social media and propaganda within their landscape. The main result of the study is building a conceptual model of digital soft power influence on fragmented identity, within three-dimensional system of coordinates. The work makes a theoretical contribution to the study of the problem of identity in the context of nonlinear socio-cultural dynamics, reflected in the dynamics of identity.
Organizational culture plays a central role in shaping employee attitudes and behaviors, particularly through everyday interactions between managers and employees. Recognition provided by line managers represents one mechanism through which cultural norms regarding valued contributions are communicated in daily work settings. This study examines how such recognition is associated with employees’ behavioral engagement expressed as going beyond formal role requirements. The analysis draws on data from the quantitative stage of a broader mixed-methods research project conducted among employees and managers in financial, high-technology, and industrial-technological organizations (N = 168). Recognition was measured as employees’ perceived acknowledgment from their line manager, and engagement was operationalized as discretionary behaviors that exceed formal job duties. Spearman’s rank-order correlation analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant positive association between recognition and behavioral engagement beyond formal role expectations (ρ = 0.607, p < 0.01). Additional analyses indicated variations across demographic groups, with female respondents reporting a stronger perceived impact of recognition on engagement than male respondents. The findings suggest that recognition by line managers functions as a key managerial practice through which organizational culture is enacted in everyday work interactions. Cultures that actively promote recognition may therefore encourage employees to contribute beyond formal responsibilities and support a more engaged and proactive workforce.
This study seeks to answer the question of whether quality of work life plays a mediating role in the effect of lean leadership on organizational commitment among healthcare workers. The study was conducted on 703 healthcare professionals working in private and public hospitals in Türkiye. Using an online survey method, primary data was collected by way of Google Forms. Exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability and normality tests were conducted for the LL, OC, and QWL scales. Spearman correlation and mediation analyses were then performed to calculate the direction and degree of the relationships between the variables. When the reliability and validity assumptions for the scales were met, the results from the correlation analysis support positive and moderately important relationships between LL and OC, LL and QWL, and OC and QWL. The mediation analysis results reveal that LL affected QWL by approximately 0.60, LL affected OC by approximately 0.20, and QWL affected OC by approximately 0.56. Furthermore, the mediating role of QWL in the impact of LL perception on OC was found as approximately 0.33.
Digitalisation in schools represents one of the structural dimensions of contemporary society rather than a peripheral technological development and it definatelly has direct consequences for the school organization, institutional culture and pedagogical practice. Although the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) continues to be one of the most influential frameworks for explaining technology adoption and it emphasizes the arguments and possible explanations for digital technologies adoption in school system, recent research suggests that digital technology integration in education cannot be understood isolated and only through subjective evaluations of technological utility and usability. Moreover, we will notice that it is a multilevel process shaped by digital competence, institutional support, school culture, family involvement, infrastructure, and socio-economic inequality, like a triangulation model. This article develops a sociological and educational framework for examining digital technology integration in education by drawing upon theoretical contributions and research on digital competence, digital skills, open educational resources, digital divide, and teacher technology acceptance. From this perspective, the paper argues that digital literacy should be conceptualized as a form of socially distributed capital and take into consideration that teachers might function as central mediators between technology and learning outcomes. We cannot ignore how the pandemic period intensified the existing inequalities while revealing the importance of digital tools, school-family collaboration and most of all the organizational limits. Digital technologies became indispensable in order to keep the educational process within its normal limits, although it intensified the preexisting inequalities that affected eventually: students, families and teachers. Therefore, TAM is presented as a useful framework that must be extended through multilevel and contextual analysis in order to explain meaningful and sustainable digital technology integration in schools.
The relevance of the research is due to the fact that since 2014, three indigenous peoples of Ukraine – Crimean Tatars, Karaites and Krymchaks – have been subject to a full-scale policy of Russification in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which creates an unprecedented threat to their cultural survival. The purpose of the research is to comprehensively analyze the mechanisms for preserving the national identity of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine under occupation, identify the main threats and resistance strategies, and assess the effectiveness of protection instruments at the national and international levels. The methodological basis is an interdisciplinary approach using systemic, comparative legal and institutional analysis, supplemented by the author’s sociological survey of 342 representatives of the Crimean Tatar community who left occupied Crimea after 2014. The results of the research showed that the majority of respondents speak the Crimean Tatar language at home, consider Islam an important component of identity, and celebrate national holidays. At the same time, the language situation among children is of serious concern, and state support is assessed by the community as insufficient. Despite this, most respondents expressed a desire to return to Crimea after de-occupation. The conclusions emphasize that Crimean Tatars demonstrate high stability of identity in conditions of forced resettlement, but the language situation among children requires special attention; family upbringing and informal communication are recognized as the most effective strategies for preserving identity, while state support needs to be significantly strengthened, considering the identified needs of the community.
This study aims to examine the relationships between leadership styles, conflict management strategies, and temperamental typologies, as well as to identify distinct respondent profiles emerging from the interaction of these variables. The research is grounded in the premise that leadership behavior is shaped by both individual characteristics and situational dynamics, particularly the ways in which individuals approach and regulate conflict situations. An exploratory research design was employed, based on a sample of 30 respondents from diverse academic fields. Data were collected using standardized instruments assessing conflict management styles, self-perceived leadership, classical leadership typologies, and temperamental dimensions. Given the nature of the variables and the sample size, nonparametric statistical methods were applied. The analysis included descriptive statistics, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients to test associations, Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) to explore multidimensional relationships, and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (Ward’s method) to identify homogeneous respondent groups. The findings indicate that conflict management style is the only variable exhibiting statistically significant associations, showing a moderate negative correlation with reserved personality style and a moderate positive correlation with leadership type. In contrast, temperament does not present significant relationships with any of the analyzed variables. MCA results confirm that conflict management and reserved personality styles are the main contributors to the factorial structure, whereas temperament has a marginal influence. Furthermore, cluster analysis reveals two distinct respondent profiles: a relational-participative profile, characterized by cooperation, flexibility, and engagement, and a normative-structured profile, focused on control, rule adherence, and organizational order. The study highlights the central role of conflict management behaviors in shaping leadership profiles, while suggesting a limited influence of temperamental traits within the analyzed framework. However, the exploratory nature of the study and the small sample size limit the generalizability of the findings, emphasizing the need for further research on larger and more diverse samples.
The relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership has gained increasing attention due to the growing need for adaptive leadership styles in dynamic organizational environments. The present study examined the relationship between trait emotional intelligence, and transformational leadership within the Romanian IT industry. The results of the study emphasize the importance of moving from short-term, reactive management to long-term sustainable development strategies that combine innovative technologies, human capital development, and active citizen participation. The proposed system for improving forecasting analysis tools, including methodological, technological, information, personnel, and regulatory aspects, is aimed at improving the accuracy of forecasts, efficiency of management decisions, and transparency of the planning process. The conclusions obtained are of practical value for the development of strategies for the sustainable development of territorial communities around the world.
The integration of digital technologies and innovative approaches into the field of social programs has become an important tool for modernizing public administration in the face of global challenges, including military crises, pandemics, and natural disasters. This topic is of particular relevance for Ukraine, which, in the context of a full-scale war, is demonstrating an unprecedented digital transformation, in particular in the field of social programs, as well as cybersecurity and defense capabilities of the state. The purpose of the article is to study digital platforms as innovative means of implementing social programs, and the object is the process of digitalization of social services in Ukraine and Estonia, and the author outlines these processes on a global scale. The main European approaches to digitalization through the prism of the Digital Decade – Policy program were also described. Special attention was paid to the digitalization of social policy in the activities of The World Bank. The experience of Estonia, as one of the world leaders in the digitalization of various spheres of life, as well as an influential partner in this area for both international organizations and individual nation states, was studied in more detail. The article traces the country’s digitalization ecology with a focus on the social component. The functional characteristics of the platforms in Ukraine “Diia” and “Kyiv Digital” were also analyzed in the context of social services provision. The key areas of digitalization, such as registration of the status of internally displaced persons, access to financial assistance, medical services, use of electronic documents, etc. were highlighted. The advantages of digital tools include mobility, accessibility, efficiency of service, reduction of administrative burden and reduction of corruption risks. At the same time, a number of problems are once again emphasized, including digital inequality, energy dependence, cyber risks, and insufficient digital competence among certain segments of the population. The practical significance of the study lies in the generalization of the Ukrainian experience of digitalization of social services. This can become the basis for developing policies in the field of social protection, digital inclusion and intercultural communication in the context of crisis transformation.
Supporting families coping with the loss of a child is a challenge in an increasingly culturally diverse world. This systematic review, conducted using the PRISMA methodology and covering the period from 2018 to 2022, analyzed 30 articles identified in Web of Science and Scopus to examine how cultural and spiritual beliefs shape the experience of pediatric palliative care. The results were organised into three thematic blocks: Islamic culture, Asian culture and a general category on cultural influence. In Islamic culture, acceptance of death as divine will and religious rituals offer comfort and meaning, although they can create tensions with clinical practice. In the Asian context, the centrality of the family, familism and rituals play a crucial role, although taboos surrounding infant death persist. In the general category, the difficulties faced by professionals in integrating the spiritual and cultural dimensions are evident, highlighting the need for specific training to provide culturally competent care. Across the board, the findings confirm that spirituality acts as a protective factor, although a lack of sensitivity to family beliefs can increase suffering. The conclusion is that there is a need to expand research to underrepresented cultural contexts and to develop guidelines to assist professionals in providing comprehensive and compassionate care for children and adolescents in palliative care.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of Entrepreneurship Centers (ECs) within veteran-friendly Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the United States (US) capital region by integrating insights from the 2022 Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) conference. This is an extension study to a previously published qualitative study titled “Entrepreneurship Centers: A Qualitative Study on their Mission, Vision, and Support Services for Veteran Entrepreneurship in the United States” (Taffal, Ivanov, Maritz & Anyu, 2025). This study focuses on best practices to support the veteran society at EC’s in the U.S. capital region. The research reveals that while many ECs acknowledge diversity and inclusion principles, few have explicitly developed targeted strategies focus specifically on veterans. The results demonstrate why standardizing best practices along with an aligned mission and vision and specific veteran support systems remains crucial. The analysis highlights the value of community engagement and support structures tailored for veteran populations. Key insights from the conference included the need for ECs to have clear, specific, and veteran-specific goals and programs that will help promote a level playing field for veterans. The findings from this paper are intended to help guide policy makers, HEIs, and ECs to develop more comprehensive and effective initiatives to support veterans in their entrepreneurial journeys and efforts to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the veteran community as a whole while creating social impact and achieving inclusion, empowerment, and systemic change.
This paper points out the importance of studying the training and attitude of teachers towards affective-sexual education (ASE), its implementation in the classroom being highlighted in the current education law (LOMLOE). The EAS is understood through its direct relationship with the consumption of pornography and subsequent consumption of prostitution, through the dehumanisation and objectification of women and girls. The sample includes 97 teachers of Compulsory-Post-compulsory Secondary Education in Spain. A quantitative methodology with a descriptive approach was used, with a Likert scale questionnaire. The psychometric properties were evaluated using two parametric analyses: T-Student and ANOVA.
The topic relevance is due to the need to consider the possibility of applying the international humanitarian law norms during military operations in Ukraine, given that the modern realities of the war in Ukraine are accompanied by obvious violations of the norms of IHL in relation to the civilian population and the military. The aim of the work was to determine features of the IHL application in the context of military actions in Ukraine. A randomized systematic review was conducted, based on the search for publications for the period 2018–2024 in the scientometric databases. The research identified the main aspects and challenges of applying the IHL norms within the realities of the armed conflicts of today. Data on compliance and application of IHL in the context of modern challenges are presented and analyіed. It is shown that the IHL application in zones of armed conflicts is a complex process that requires constant international efforts. To illustrate the challenges arising within the implementation of IHL, the article examines the conflicts in Syria and Israel. Despite different geopolitical contexts, these conflicts have common features – massive IHL violations and humanitarian crises, war crimes. The features of violations of IHL norms during the current military aggression in Ukraine were identified. The paper not only conducted a comparative analysis of IHL norms implementation in conflict zones, but also put forward recommendations/proposals to promote their compliance. The paper identifies factors that are important in the IHL implementation in Ukraine during wartime. The need for control and development of effective methods for compliance with IHL during wartime is considered.
The purpose of the study is to develop effective strategies to overcome poverty by optimizing migration processes and addressing demographic challenges in the context of current global changes. The research methodology was determined by the systematization and analysis of 16 empirical studies, summarizing the findings of 12 critical sources, and comparative analysis of migration processes and economic indicators using the latest data from 2023-2024. A typology of countries has been developed according to the effectiveness of poverty reduction through migration processes and eight main migration corridors have been analyzed for their impact on poverty reduction. The results showed concrete mechanisms for poverty alleviation: poverty reduction by 11 percentage points in Uganda, 6 percentage points in Bangladesh, and 5 percentage points in Ghana due to migrant remittances. It was found that the lower the fertility rate in a country, the higher the immigration rate, which is 2.3 times higher, creating opportunities to use the demographic dividend to overcome poverty. The critical role of the cost of remittances is revealed: a reduction from the current 6.4% to the target 3% could increase the net amount of remittances by $23 billion annually, which would directly contribute to the poverty alleviation of 15-20 million households globally. The methodological approaches are systematized, with a predominance of quantitative methods (71% of studies) and underrepresentation of sub-Saharan Africa (12% of studies, where 67% of the world's poor live). The results demonstrate that migration can be a powerful tool for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 1, Eradicate Poverty, provided that evidence-based strategies are implemented, the cost of remittances is optimized, and international efforts are coordinated.
eing fairly treated in education workplace is concerned by teachers. A school therefore has to construct and promote the specifications of equity system. Teachers enhancing the perceived organizational equity would stabilize the mind and avoid fear to reassure the work through the trust in and commitment to schools and generate the organizational citizenship behavior. In other words, a teacher is a member of school organization; the reward with organizational citizenship behavior would appear by the fair and trustful attitude towards the organization. This study used university teachers in Taiwan as the research subjects. A total of 350 questionnaires were sent out, and 296 valid questionnaires were collected, with a calculated recovery rate of 85%. The results show: (1) university teachers perceiving equal equity, under equity systems, would present trust on the school organization or colleagues, and feedback of equal equity to teachers would induce the work engagement to identify the school and involve in the work to further induce the organizational citizenship behavior, (2) it is necessary to have university teachers perceive being respected and fairly treated in the university organization in order to have university teachers be willing to actively help people, identify the organization, and self-demanding; the balance of and satisfaction with basic psychological state would induce university teachers’ work engagement to further present higher organizational citizenship behavior, and (3) education administration authority should eliminate policies which university teachers feel unfair so that university teachers could share resources, start equal interaction and dialogue, enhance teamwork to achieve task commitment, and promote overall teaching effectiveness. Based on the discussion raised in this article, we hope to create a high-quality educational environment for all Taiwanese university teachers to develop their personal professional abilities throughout their careers, positively involving in teaching and being glad to teach, showing the maximal effectiveness of teaching team to promote students’ learning effect, and presenting organizational citizenship behavior to involve in education work.
