
The article has tried to explore the evolving intersection between local public libraries and heritage tourism, envisioning how these two cultural domains can collaborate to collect, preserve, promote, and represent local history & Heritage innovatively. It tried to examine the role of public libraries as information centres and democratic and dynamic cultural hubs that can contribute effectively and meaningfully to heritage tourism through interactive storytelling, community engagement, digital archives and place-based learning. The present paper has tried to assess the impact of heritage tourism on local public libraries’ collections & services. The study has highlighted how heritage tourism influences the transformation of public library services, especially those located near tourist places. It also tried to frame the various shades of collection & services for tourists that a local public library can offer, using their existing information resources and infrastructure. The current study has also mentioned a few procedural approaches, particularly for organizing tourist services in the local public library arena.
The current study is planned and executed to thematically analyze the Scopus-indexed publication output of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology (GJUS&T), Hisar, for the last ten years from 2016 to 2024. The study analyzed 2607 documents for their document types and year-wise impact based on citations received. It also identified the central thematic area that the university is working on, along with the identification of the countries with which the institute collaborated. Keyword co-occurrence identified thematic areas like Nanomaterials & Environmental Chemistry, Drug Discovery & Molecular Modelling, AI in Biomedical Research, Medicinal Chemistry & Heterocycles, Materials Characterisation Techniques, Computational Drug Design, and Bioactive Compounds. Overlay visualization of the country collaboration highlighted the institution’s cooperation with countries like the UK, Turkey, Ethiopia, and Egypt in recent years.
Manuscripts serve as invaluable windows into humanity’s historical and cultural legacy, necessitating meticulous preservation and documentation to ensure their longevity. Preservation and access to cultural heritage manuscripts have become a critical concern in the digital age. Many fragile and ancient texts are at risk of deterioration due to environmental conditions, handling, and lack of preservation infrastructure. Digitization offers a promising solution to safeguard and disseminate such heritage materials, particularly in regions where conservation resources are limited. This paper presents a practical case study that employs cost-effective digitization tools to enhance the documentation of historical manuscripts. The study implemented a structured digitization methodology using the CZUR scanner combined with Scan Tailor post-processing software. Manuscripts were collected, categorized, and scanned following standardized preservation protocols. Key metadata elements were recorded, and digital images were processed to improve clarity and legibility. The application of this technique resulted in high-resolution digital images of deteriorating manuscripts, enabling preservation without physical handling. The processed outputs were assessed for quality, usability, and accessibility. The project also demonstrated how cost-effective tools like Scan Tailor and CZUR can be scaled and adopted in cultural institutions, particularly in developing countries. The paper highlights the importance of accessible digitization technologies in preserving cultural heritage. It further highlights the importance of metadata tagging, legal copyright frameworks, and repository platforms for sustainable digital preservation. The study presents a practical model for heritage digitization, providing insights for future research and applications in similar contexts.
This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the research publications of Himachal Pradesh University between 2019 and 2023. The study analyzed 1054 research publications retrieved from the Scopus database using Biblioshiny. The study identified the year-wise productivity, types of publications, collaborative affiliations, countries, funding sponsors, and top journals in which research publications were published. The study demonstrated that the University’s research output steadily increased from 2019 to 2023, and there has been an increase in inter-university collaboration. Shoolini University tops the list of collaboration institutes, and Saudi Arabia is the top collaboration country. The "AIP Conference Proceedings" was the most preferred journal. The University Grants Commission has been the top funding agency in these five years.
Libraries have evolved from passive knowledge repositories to active learning communities encouraging collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy. Traditionally, libraries were book and academic material storage centres, but technology has transformed their purpose in education. Libraries now offer access to both physical and digital resources, support collaboration, and incorporate new technologies such as 3D printing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence to enhance learning. This evolution has placed libraries at the centre of learning, making them accessible and inclusive by facilitating access for marginalised communities, providing internet access, and utilising assistive technologies for persons with disabilities. Future-oriented libraries will continue to evolve by embracing gamification, eco-friendly practices, and AI-powered personalisation to create more engaging and inclusive learning environments. As hubs of lifelong learning and civic engagement, libraries continue to be pertinent in addressing the digital divide and promoting education equity. With their constant evolution in line with technological and pedagogical innovation, they ensure that they continue to be key pillars in determining the future of education. The present research paper focuses on the changing role of libraries from information repositories to learning communities, highlighting technology integration, collaboration, accessibility, digital literacy, and lifelong learning in modern education.
In the past two decades, the Library and Information Science field has undergone a significant transformation due to the advent of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). This shift has redefined the traditional role of libraries from mere document repositories to dynamic knowledge management centres. Academic libraries today face multifaceted challenges such as the digital revolution, information explosion, shrinking budgets, rising costs of information resources, and rapidly evolving user expectations. To address these challenges, libraries have adopted innovative approaches, particularly reengineering. Reengineering is an emerging management strategy to rethink and redesign services for improved effectiveness. This study examines the application of reengineering principles in the context of IIM Jammu’s library, focusing on user perceptions and satisfaction with its redesigned resources and services. For this purpose, a survey method through a selfadministered questionnaire is adopted to collect data from library end users. In total, 120 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to the students. Out of the filled-in received questionnaire, 98 were fully completed and usable. Apart from this, an interview with the librarian helped supplement the questionnaire survey. The findings suggest that while users increasingly appreciate e-resources and digital services, there remains a parallel demand for traditional print materials. The study highlights the need for continuous innovation and strategic improvements in library services to align with users’ evolving information needs.
This study examines research scholars' awareness of publication practices and academic footprints at the University of Mysore. Survey results show gaps in knowledge about quality publications, indexed journals, and academic metrics like the H-index. Many respondents expressed a need for training to better navigate publication choices and enhance their academic reputation. The findings highlight the importance of improving awareness of legitimate journals and academic metrics.
This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of research publications from Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, between 2019 and 2023. Data on 949 research publications were obtained from the Scopus database in CSV and BibTeX formats. Biblioshiny, a web application of the R Studio, was used to perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. The analysis showed that the university made significant progress in scholarly activities, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 28.46%. The research publications mainly focused on the Agricultural and Biological Sciences research area. The key research themes identified were "apple," "climate change," and "abiotic stress". The analysis also revealed extensive collaborations with national and international institutions, particularly with leading institutions in the United States, China, and Australia, enhancing its global research presence. Major national funding bodies, such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Department of Science and Technology, were identified as top sponsors.
The current study examines how technological implementation affects librarians’ attitudes and job satisfaction. Traditional library resources, traditional library services, ICT implementation by computerizing library resources, digital library resources, website production and maintenance, dealing with RFID implementation of libraries, and so on, are some of the variables explored. The changes in library resources and services following the deployment of ICT and librarians’ abilities to administer those resources were studied to determine how these factors contribute to a low degree of job satisfaction among library professionals. Data for the study were gathered from Haryana’s academic libraries. Data was obtained using a questionnaire and evaluated using tabulation and charts. It was discovered that libraries integrated ICT and that library workers were attempting to adapt to the changes. Library professionals have a limited understanding of information technology. Proper training can resolve the issue and provide the professional with job satisfaction.
This study conducted a scientometric analysis of Shoolini University’s academic publications from 2019 to 2023 using Biblioshiny. The analysis covered publication trends, document types, subject areas, collaboration networks, and funding sources. Results showed a steady increase in publications, peaking in 2022. Articles (59.92%) were the predominant document type, indicating a focus on primary research. Major research areas included Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, and Engineering, with interdisciplinary contributions in Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Materials Science. Keywords reflected a shift from fundamental sciences to health and sustainability applications, particularly nanotechnology and environmental technologies. Extensive collaborations with national and international institutions, especially in Asia, were identified. Funding sources were diverse, highlighting significant support from both national and international bodies.
This study aimed to review the research productivity of Jaypee University of Information and Technology, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, from 2019 to 2023. The researchers retrieved 1420 publications from the Scopus database and utilized Biblioshiny to perform a bibliometric assessment. The analysis revealed consistent research output, with a peak in productivity in 2021. Engineering and Computer Science emerged as the predominant fields, constituting over 80% of total publications. Articles and conference papers were the main document types used to disseminate research findings, reflecting the university’s focus on substantial academic contributions. The study also revealed a significant collaboration with national and international institutions supported by governmental funding agencies.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an increasingly important aspect in research writing that has significantly influenced scholarly communication and academic publishing. The results of this paper are the bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in Scopus between 2015 and 2025 to explore the global research trends, thematic development networks and networks of collaboration in the topic area. Based on bibliometric inquiry, in consideration of publication expansion, citation impact, authorship patterns, country-level and institutional factors, as well as co-occurrence of keywords analysis of 5,241 publications, including the study analyses journal articles, conference papers and reviews. The results reveal a strong increasing trend in post-2019 publications due to the accelerated progress of natural language processing, machine learning, and generative systems such as ChatGPT. China is the largest producer in terms of global output, followed by the United States and India, which reflect the growing strength of Asian research communities. Such common interests as are seen in the analysis of keywords include language model, text generation, AI-assisted writing, and scholarly communication. In general, the findings point to the fact that AI is no longer a supportive tool, but a vital component of contemporary research writing, enhancing effective and cooperative research writing and increasing visibility. The analysis sheds light on the cognitive framework and world process of AI-driven research communication and implications for future academic and policy efforts.
The study aimed to assess users’ satisfaction with the redesigned library resources and services offered by the MM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Mullana, and to identify potential areas for improvement. This study uses a survey method and a questionnaire for data collection. Two well-structured questionnaires were made, one for librarians and another for users. A total of 120 questionnaires were sent to MBBS students, and 108 were filled out and returned. The librarian’s response is included in the analysis as needed. The study shows that users used the resources in both formats (print & e-resources); i.e., most of the respondents use books in print and journals are in electronic form. The findings also showed that the library introduced new services like the mobile library app, remote access, self-check-in and check-out, virtual reference services and online helpdesk, etc. for their users. This study reflects a growing trend toward digital use, with some services relying on both manual and digital interaction. It is suggested that the redesign is required to strengthen the e-services and digital collections, and also improve the library services.
This study explores the Implementation and Design of IRINS web technology in your university faculty profile. The article’s primary objective is to examine the main features of IRINS, its advantages, and how to implement and design them step by step. Librarians face a type of problem when implementing this technology in our institutions. This study uses the methodology in which a particle approaches the author. The author uses this technology implementation to create their faculty profile and an IRINS web-based portal in INFLIBNET. The data is collected from every faculty member and generates a VIDWAN ID. And upload all data to IRINS portal and create an open-source research information management system, Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth https://lingayasvidyapeeth.irins.org/ IRINS is useful for showcasing research output, academic profiles, and institutional productivity. Implementing IRINS in libraries can significantly enhance the visibility of research activities and facilitate collaboration among scholars. While in the process, we faced many challenges like collecting data, choosing the LOGO, creating a Vidwan ID, etc. This study benefits librarians and researchers creating this type of portal in the IRINS system through INFLIBNET. This study shows the step-by-step process of creating an open-source research information management system.
The global research landscape in solar energy has witnessed remarkable growth over the past three decades, driven by increasing energy demands and the urgent need for sustainable alternatives. This study presents a scientometric analysis of solar energy research, highlighting publication trends, country-wise contributions, institutional collaborations, funding agencies, and thematic research areas aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). China (25.36%) and the USA (17.68%) lead global research output, with significant contributions from India (7.38%), Germany (6.66%), and Japan (6.02%). Key institutions like the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Department of Energy play pivotal roles. At the same time, funding agencies like the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the European Commission have significantly influenced research growth. Leading journals, including Solar Energy and Renewable Energy, have emerged as significant platforms for high-impact publications. Thematic analysis aligns with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Highly cited articles, particularly those on dye-sensitized solar cells and perovskite photovoltaics, reflect breakthroughs in solar cell efficiency and material innovations. Despite impressive growth, challenges such as regional disparities in research funding and limited industry collaboration persist. Future efforts should foster international partnerships, enhance policy support, and increase interdisciplinary research to accelerate solar energy advancements. This study provides valuable insights into the evolution of solar energy research, offering guidance for policymakers, researchers, and funding bodies aiming to drive sustainable energy innovations.
This study aimed to analyze the publication trends and citation patterns of the “Accountability in Research” journal. 455 documents have been published in this journal during the last decade, i.e., 2015-2024. The data for this study has been extracted from the Scopus database, and a bibliometric approach was applied to identify the type of documents, year-wise publication distribution, citation pattern, most prolific authors, institutions and countries, highly cited publications, thematic patterns, and the most frequently used keywords. The findings from this study revealed that these 455 publications received a total of 4029 citations with an average citation of 8.85 per publication. D.B. Resnik and A. Marušic were the top contributing authors, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences followed by the National Institute of Health were the top contributing institutions. The United States stands at the top of the list in terms of top contributing countries, both in terms of number of publications and the number of citations grabbed. The keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed that the most frequently used keywords were “research integrity”, “research ethics”, and “responsible conduct of research”.
The current study aims to investigate the obsolescence of literature in financial studies in detail. The research is based on the references and bibliography of doctoral theses in financial studies awarded by the University of Delhi during 2007-2016. The annual ageing factor, mean life/half-life, utility factor, and corrected obsolescence factor have been calculated individually. The research resulted in a higher number of citations published in the last 15 years, which shows that literature of current times has more scope to get cited than older literature. Specific aspects need to be observed while calculating the obsolescence rate or decline in use. The latest research has benefited from easy availability and an open-access approach, and the study resulted in principle values and core findings that are high in citations and are not affected by age.
The study investigates the information literacy skills and ethical use of information sources among MBA students at the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Mohali, Punjab. The prime objective of the study is to determine our students' abilities to identify and utilize informational sources and their awareness of research ethics and plagiarism. An online questionnaire was distributed among the students, out of which (97%) responded. The study finds that most students (88.65%) efficiently extracted information and were intensely aware of research ethics (87.63%). (92.79%) of students know plagiarism and use plagiarism tools like Original and Turnitin for detection. The study highlights the need for ongoing information literacy programs to enhance students' skills in ethical information use and proper citation practices. The findings show the necessary information literacy for academic success and ethical research.
The present study is an analytical bibliometric study of a total of 556 PhD theses in the discipline of Sanskrit language submitted/awarded in various universities of India from January 2020 to December 2024. The study covered a holistic bibliometric investigation, i.e., Year-Wise, University-Wise, Gender-Wise, Languages-Wise astute. The result of the study shows that a maximum number of PhD theses were awarded in the year 2022, whereas the lowest theses were awarded in 2020. The most surprising fact found in the investigation is that, as Sanskrit research scholars, most respondents used English to write their PhD theses.
The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) programme marks a significant milestone in improving higher education in India.
