
Abstract The International Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry has grown into a cornerstone event for the global green chemistry community. Held annually in the historic city of Venice—an improbable masterpiece built on science, engineering, and vision—the program takes place in a city that exists because people dared to experiment, adapt, and solve problems that once seemed unsolvable. This same spirit makes Venice the perfect setting for a summer school devoted to reimagining green chemical solutions. Each year, it brings together graduate students, researchers, and industry experts to explore innovative approaches to green chemistry that prioritize sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Abstract The world is not likely to run out of magnesium anytime soon. As the eighth most abundant element on Earth, the metal makes up roughly 2% of the planet’s crust. It’s also the third most plentiful element in seawater, but unlike other metals, such as gold or copper, it only exists in nature in combination with other elements.
Abstract Despite its role as an interdisciplinary science, analytical chemistry, with its instrumentation connections, is frequently unrecognized or marginalized and often ignored entirely in early stages of chemistry education. This article examines why analytical chemistry and instrumentation (ACAI) is often overlooked, together with a compelling argument for why it should play an identifiably more dominant role in early chemistry courses.
Abstract Nanozymes—nanomaterials imbued with enzymatic functions—are expanding our understanding of catalysis and the nanoworld with their unique advantages. They possess both the catalytic efficiency of natural enzymes and superior environmental tolerance and long-term stability. Nanozyme Painting Rhymes was part of the inaugural “Chemistry Everywhere” thematic popular science and art exhibition on display during the 35th Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) held from 11-14 April 2026. Abstract Chemistry thrives on creativity, collaboration, and inclusion of different perspectives. Yet for far too many chemists, the laboratory remains difficult to access and navigate. The Royal Society of Chemistry’s new report, Disability Inclusive Laboratories in the Chemical Sciences, [ 1] presents evidence from more than 400 survey respondents, 29 case studies, and 15 interviews and sets out 15 recommendations that place accessibility and inclusion at the heart of our discipline. This article shares the core findings from the research and good practices, and offers an invitation to the global community, educators, industry leaders, funders, policymakers, and chemists at every career stage, to help build laboratories where everyone can feel included and do their best science.
