EDITORIAL NOTE Type 1diabetes (T1D), which is typically caused by the autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing pancreatic islets, is affecting more than 1 million people in North America according to the National Diabetes Fact Sheet 2011. The key of treating T1D is to replenish the lost beta cells or their products, insulin. Insulin is commonly used for treating T1D. The occasional hypoglycemia post injection and the complications associated with long-term insulin administration may pose potential risks during a life-long insulin administration. Islet transplantation, as an experimental treatment for T1D, has the potential to maintain insulin-independence for a longer duration, but has failed to maintained normoglycemia for more than five years as per many studies. During the last two decades, much effort has been made into exploring beta cell regeneration so that the new insulinproducing cells can replenish the lost beta cells caused by autoimmune destruction. Taking advantage of the progresses in protein sciences and regenerative medicine, beta cell regeneration may be promising for treating type 1diabetes in future.
The Highly significant effects of the environment (E), GxE interaction, and genotypes (G) had been observed by AMMI analysis for wheat genotypes evaluated under restricted irrigation timely sown multilocation trials in the North-Western Plains zone of the country during 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. Background: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is part of the electromagnetic spectrum longer than x-rays but shorter than that of visible light wavelength between 100 and 400 nm. Objective: This work aimed to investigate the biological effect of UVA on rat heart tissue as blood cell count, heart enzyme, trace elements content and histopathological changes. Materials and Methods: The heart samples were selected from 40 Wister male rats. They were divided into equal four groups (ten for each) as; the control group, which is not exposed to any radiation, while the other three groups were exposed to different UVA-radiation doses for continuous doses (group II (500.00 J/cm2), group III( 793.15 J/cm2) and group IV (1733.18 J/cm2)). The study was examined some trace elements by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Heart enzyme of the blood serum was used spectrophotometer, and CBCs were used mindary hematology analyzer Bc 2800, the histopathological changes of heart tissue examined by Light Microscope (LM) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) examined myocardial cells. Results: The present work revealed increase of trace elements concentrations of (Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, Zn), mild changes of the complete blood picture (RBC, WBC, PLT and Hb) and heart enzyme, A mild to marked histopathological changes on the heart tissue. The fine ultra-structure revealed destructive myofibrile and increased of microsomes structure and lysosome vesicles. There are statistical significant decrease of mitochondria surface area and thickness of z-band of myocytes. It could be concluded that the continuously exposed to the UVA at long time caused a harmful in the heart tissues with a potential unbeneficial role of the UVA radiation exposed, so it must be used protection agent to avoid the harmful ionize radiation affected from the UVA radiation from the long-time exposed to sunlight.
Historical experience in any discipline is invaluable for its future, as the study of the results of previous practice allows you to use and develop on a new level previous successes and achievements, but at the same time avoid the mistakes of the past. Looking from these positions at the state of the problem of Acute Pneumonia (AP), it seems that this disease, which has more than two and a half thousand years of fame, does not have any worthy results of centuries of experience. This is not just a Statement; it is a statement of fact. Today, when a large number of patients with coronavirus pneumonia appeared, it turned out that there is no reasonable treatment for this situation, and its search is conducted in a “combat situation” and actually from a “clean slate”. There is no doubt that many experts, after reading such an assessment, immediately parry it, saying that we are talking about a new pathogen, against which there are no specific means yet. But this is only a small part of the circumstances. The fact is that the usual scheme of fighting the pathogen, created over the past decades, has long turned into a leading didactic and practical dogma, replacing a logical scientific and clinically based program of medical care for a specific disease.
Objective: Analysis of Antimalarial Drug Policy in India. Subject/Method: Policy Analysis and Secondary Research Review. Findings: Drug list expanded extensively and the drug dose intensity is proportional to disease transmission in region/area; medicalizing the community significantly. The conceptual understanding of malaria remains within biomedicine domain evidenced by the fact that much of importance (over-reliance) given to least effective individual level technical interventions like drugs that too; without considering immunity and nutritional status of both individual and community. Indian planners seems confused to differentiate (or ignoring) between Malaria’s behavior at individual level and community level. Thus, the Malaria planning lacks ethical consideration for resource allocation in Public Health Planning evidenced by the fact that large resources allocated to least effective intervention that serves the profit making purpose of private sector pharma industry. Sufferings of the most impoverished household of community remain unaddressed in health planning. Policy is unable to serve its primary purpose of relieving suffering of community, prevention of mortalities, reducing morbidities, slowing down the resistance, and reducing drug load in community. Conclusion: The investment in medications to tackle malaria as Public Health problem looks costly investments as it consumes heavy resources and its benefits/success claim is questionable. There is mismatch in planning and field reality as intervention in the form of drugs does not match the requirement as per epidemiological complexity. Health planning is comprehensive exercise for any country. Ignoring voices from field/frontline workers prove detrimental for health planning. Every organization or individual involved in health planning would be having different opinions as per their interest but the final decision regarding resource allocation should consider the field reality following good public health ethics
